well i talked my buddy into ditching the carbureted 22r in favor for a 7mgte.
heres a few pics of some of the stuff we have. we've been searching high and low for parts the past couple of weeks.
the owner of the truck just became a member so maybe he'll be chiming in soon.
i need some help from some of you wiring gurus, in how to wire in this engine into this carb truck.

heres the truck, and yes that front bumper is going to go. sorry for the crappy night time pics, i just took them tonight before we left his house

picked up an hks downpipe today for cheap
sm_photo_missing.jpg

also picked up a low mileage ct26 with pretty much no shaft play

we dropped the block off today to get bored and honed, also the flywheel to get surfaced and the cams to get polished up. they should be back next week so we can start putting it all together. still have to order a few parts but not many, still waiting on some stuff to arrive.

looks like the compressor wheel has a few chips, but that might be dirt.

i had my eye on a similar truck but no title and frame rust shut it down pretty quick. good luck! i've also been dreaming about a 7mgte in a samurai :D

there are 2 really small chips on the wheel but i dont think they are big enough to hurt performance. we are shooting for close to 300whp, i dont think the tranny will take to much more. we've got to replace some of the floor board in the truck, but the frame seems rust free.

i had forgotten how small a stock ct compressor wheel was.

from what i've heard, the w58 will hold 300hp as long as you apply it gently. what are the goals for this truck?

looks like a 4wd right now, so are you gonna keep it geared low for crawling (not much sense with the turbo coming alive in higher rpms, unless the NA pistons take care of it) or are you gonna drop it and drag it?

idk really know what all he wants to do with it. we did use the n/a pistons for a little more low end. it is gonna stay 4wd.

well we finally got the block back from the machine shop. it took a lot longer than it was supposed too. when imstalled the crank today and checked all of our oil clearances. we had a slight problem with the acl thrust washers we had purchased. they were .002 larger than a set of standard ndc thrust washers i had. we got rid of the acl bearings, the crank didnt want to turn with those installed. i also lapped all of the valve the vavle seats today and made sure they were seating properly.

Using the front sump pan so you can clear the IFS? :)

Looks great! I wish I had the time to do my pickup now! I have all the parts just sitting around!

i need to update this thing with pics. the engine is in now. need to wire it up and put on the intake, turbo and what not. Had to take the crank pulley off to get it lowered in the bay. The guy that owns the truck never comes to work on it. Its getting really annoying because its taking up space in my garage and I need to work on my own stuff.

Also I still need to make a new bracket for the steering stabilizer. Had to remove it due to the oil pan hitting it. Had to remove the gte oil filter head to fit the 5m mounts. I'm gonna try ti use the NA stud and sandwhich plate with a built in thermostat for the oil cooler.

Junk the truck, send me the motor. Problem solved. LOL. I've got everything for the swap, just no time to actually build the motor. I decided to look for a decent running GTE to drop in to lay the groundwork/getting everything sorted and running properly, then build the motor I want for it.

Sigh, I need some time. Another winter with the 22re is about to haunt me. :(
