During my SSQV tear down, I took close notice to how this area worked as well. personally I think HKS fails on the design here as well. If they're aren't going to make replacement parts available they should have sealed the diaphragm to the metal. With it not being sealed, it just allows dirt to...
crap lol removed for now
Fixed, thanks for the tip haha. I also tend to look for problems too so I can keep on top of them, but yes, trouble follows me with cars in general, not just supras. I'm 24 have owned 6 cars, all had ridiculous problems arise. gaboonviper85 knows the extent of my...
Cliff note: Leaky HKS, Black piece in third pic wont seal on inner ring. How to get a better sealing surface or rather raise the inner ring to get a tighter fit?
I've been doing a lot of researching and finding countless people with issues with the HKS SSQV. Whether they it be because they...
I have contacted Mishimoto. They told me they are going to being looking into the potential problem of the stock fan blade impacting the rad core. Whats happening is the fan blade tips are hitting the lip of the top end tank, if it catches just right, this happens:
I'm moving onto my 4th...
I gave mishi a call. They are now looking into the problem. My guess is though, many people have switched to e-fans with the rad change, so they may not find much of an issue unless people speak up.
My engine bay is excessively hot as well. Heat wrap your DP and get a blanket for the turbo and your under hood temps should significantly drop. Its currently on my list of "things to do when i have money".
I figured they flexed, just not this much. It is quite surprising. I was just hoping no other underlying cause was present. Rad is secure, clutch is tight and mounts were good last I checked. Guess my only realistic solution (if i can confirm the blade is flexing this much) would be to go e-fan...
Nothing yet. Diagnosing the issue with the HKS. I've found the only possible place it can leak (besides the O-ring in the flange) is the seal used on the front cover where the air expels. I was going to contact HKS about a new seal as my local place (JSC which can get pretty much anything)...
^Think the plastic has gotten flimsy over the years? New fan in order or just a used replacement or just go E-fan (yes i know the drawbacks of this, but i can' t keep blowing radiators either) Its just strange I kept one of them for nearly a year and this one lasts only two days after the install.
Get rid of it lol. I have two, both have failed me. They both leak massive amounts of boost pressure from the valve that's "never supposed to leak". Called HKS and they simply accused me of buying knock offs, what a big help...
BTW I have both first and second gen units, ie one with and without...
Nope, uses all stock mounts so never saw the need. Would a stray current really cause the rads to fail in the same location every time? Impact or not, how is this checked, multimeter between the rad and ground while the car is running?
This may change your mind, maybe not. This is the rad in...
What does it appear to be? I have a broken fan blade to suggest otherwise.
I was very careful what to say, suggesting it simply blew out or it detached from the end tank. They have a "no questions asked" warranty i know, but i don't want to push it. I'm very curious if other people are...
Update
Word has it, new models are in.....finally :3d_frown:
Pat is confirming this for me with his team. If so Ill have it shipped to me soon. I also requested a list of changes to the new design...
