    Dyno disappointment (sort of)

Had the car tuned this past weekend by Justin Nenni. was running a turbonetics/ct 60 trim upgrade but the turbo blew on or before dyno tuning. Best run was 369 HP/356 TQ at 13.5 lbs. As you can see on the dyno chart, boost was very unsteady and dropped in the higher RPMs. Had the turbo...

Removing Rear Suspension Lower arms bushing install

Since rust is more voluminous than steel, you can heat and pb-blast all you want and they still won't come apart since the bolts are now essentially pressed into the bushing sleeves.

    Bolt-on vs T4 setup for 500 whp

Any particular reason? I've heard a lot of bad experiences with the internal wastegates on the bolt-on turbos no matter where they are from.

    Bolt-on vs T4 setup for 500 whp

Good stuff guys. Looks like I'll probably go with something like a billet precision 5862 on a T4 set-up. I'm guessing on a turbo this small, the BB option won't really be worth it.

My restoration project - Rusty 89

So a group of us in Edmonton brought Justin Nenni out to tune our cars. Among some mid-600 HP MK4s, Soarers, and an apparently obscenely loud R35 was ourwhite 7M powered MK3. Running an AEM and a 60 trim CT upgrade, the car put down 369 WHP at 13 lbs within the first couple of runs. Sadly, this...

    Bolt-on vs T4 setup for 500 whp

After having my car tuned and finding out that my turbo is not far off being dead, its time to upgrade. Just wondering what the best option is for a fairly quick spooling 500 whp. Is it worth my time to do a t4 set-up with external gate, or should I go with one of the bolt on options that are...

Removing Rear Suspension Lower arms bushing install

Seizing is a function of how much salt the undercarriage has seen. If your car was winter driven and over 200k kms, there is a good chance you'll be cutting out a few of the bolts.

    Question for those who know...

You could always do a firewall swap. I considered this...It really doesn't seem overly difficult.

Can the rear timing cover be removed and replaced without pulling the head?

No, the head doesn't have to be removed, but you will have to machine the sealing surface of the new timing cover to be of equal height to the one you are removing. Use FIPG at the locations indicated by the TSRM when re-sealing. Currently, I'm running on a removed/replaced timing cover...

    Question for those who know...

Don't buy an engine in a shitty shell. It will cost you more than its worth. Import a car from the US on the cheap. Trust me.

    Arp flywheel bolt snapped :(

Did you modify your torque setting to include the loc-tite on the bolts? Specified torque is a function of thread condition (e.g. lubricated, dry, etc). A dry torque setting used on loc-tite covered threads would likely exceed the intended preload on the bolts, potentially contributing to...

    Coolant leak by passenger foglight

    1. Buy UV dye kit 2. Add dye to coolant 3. Use flashlight included with kit to find leak 4. Fix leak. All without guessing or replacing something that doesn't need to be replaced.

Cam position sensor (jumpy ignition timing)

In response to the original post, I don't see how this is much different from getting the signal off the CPS assuming minmial play in the helical gear connecting the cam and CPS. The cam gear is still belt driven, so there will be those natural flucutations either way. Perhaps the pickup used...

    AEM EMS tuning questions

not that I've really checked, but did you notice anything weird with the coolant temp value when logging? it had seemed pretty consistent for me but a new one is certainly worth trying before the tuner comes to town. Any chance you know the part number?

    AEM EMS tuning questions

If you tried this with 12 fuel teeth, you would be firing two sets of injectors at 0, and one set at 8. With that said, my idle is complete shit right now, but i don't think its the phasing...I'm having my car professionally tuned in a couple weeks, but in the meantime, I have one more thing...

    AEM EMS tuning questions

To update my last post, my injector phasing is as follows, using 24 fuel teeth 8 0 16 8 16 0 with a phase of 0.

    AEM EMS tuning questions

with 0000000 all of the injectors are firing at the same time. Twice per revolution with 12 fuel teeth, once with 24. If you are running off 12 teeth, try firing the injectors before the valves of the first cylinder in that pairing open. Off the top of my head, I can't remember what my...

My restoration project - Rusty 89

The latest? Well, its currently -30 here, so it has been in storage since November. The latest improvement to the car was the AEM EMS installation. I struggled through the software and managed to get the car running acceptably. ISC valve died right before putting the car to bed, so the...
