    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Ah, I love how the exhaust manifold rotates the turbo, I'm a bit disappointed I couldn't track one down for my install. As far as the brake rotors are concerned, any chance you were on the brake pedal for too long after hot lapping? I see you're using the stock linkage for the Q45 TB...

My restoration project - Rusty 89

Turbo installation was a bit of a bitch, but is now complete. Comp 6065 TBB with all supporting piping and hoses from Driftmotion. Open wastegate sounds damn mean. Yes, there are no coils in the engine shot. Those are now back at home where they should be. Cam gears are waiting to be...

    Rust issues/ And repairs :)

To clarify that statement, in retrospect, it would have been far cheaper to start with a rust-free car from the southern states. Far, far cheaper

    Clutch job woes.

For the $12 cost of an intake manifold gasket (partsource), I'd personally remove the manifold...

    Rust issues/ And repairs :)

You can always pay somebody in the southern states to cut you out the pieces you need. While I was able to source the fender wells from toyota ($100 each IIRC) a few years back, I had a member who parted out cars cut me off two complete rear quarters. I could have had just the areas around the...

    VIN Etched into Windows??

My 89 had some stupid number (YUL3983) etched everywhere. All glass, wheels, tail lights. It was even scribed (by hand) into every accessible engine component. AFM, valve covers, abs cover, brake booster, cam gear cover.... It was a bitch (especially the corner glass and hatch) to do away...

    3P's TCCS Disassembly/Analysis

Awesome, thanks a lot. I figured that the advance would be load and rpm dependent...

    3P's TCCS Disassembly/Analysis

Are you able to pinpoint where fuel injection events occur in relation (via crankshaft rotation) to ignition? I suppose this only matters at low rpm/load, but it would still be good to know.

Removing Rear Suspension Lower arms bushing install

Yep, toyota only. And if I recall correctly, that is a bearing, not a bushing.

My restoration project - Rusty 89

nope, done with the ct. T4 based comp 6065 tbb going in. Welded some fittings onto the dp and intake tubes yesterday, now just waiting on the mail for some misc. stuff to finish it all off. the alcantara is in fact charcoal, not black.

    Verifying a meteal head gasket

Look at what? The gasket is only really visible at one or two locations. If the gasket is stainless, it wouldn't be non-magnetic stainless (200 or 300 series) anyway since the non-mag stuff is weaker and more expensive than magnetic (400,etc) grades. Only austenitic (200/300) stainless is...

    Verifying a meteal head gasket

The head gasket protrudes from the size of the block/head interface on the intake side of the engine. Take a magnet and see if it sticks to the gasket. If it does, you've got a MHG.

    Cooling System Rehaul

It might be wise to add a heat-shielding sleeve to the transmission lines running by the downpipe. The DP tends to get pretty damn hot. At the least, it will add unnecessary heat to the transmission fluid. At the worst, it will melt the polymer in the braided lines.

    Bolt-on vs T4 setup for 500 whp

well, pulled the trigger on a set-up. Comp CT4-6065 BB with a 0.70 AR divided exhaust housing. I think it may be a tad overkill for 500 WHP, but I suppose more power is only a set of injectors and a second fuel pump away.

O-ring boss (ORB) fittings on 7M vavlecovers

Good stuff, thats the exact info I was looking for. By any chance do you recall the part number or manufacturer of the fittings? Thanks, Adam

O-ring boss (ORB) fittings on 7M vavlecovers

Did you remove the oil baffle when you did this? My main concern is that the fitting will hit the baffle and essentially eliminate my PCV system.

O-ring boss (ORB) fittings on 7M vavlecovers

I'm looking to clean up the mess that is my PCV system routing and replace the pressed-in tubes with o-ring boss fittings. Surely somebody here has done this - what size fittings did you use? It looks like a shallow mount ORB fitting is necessary - is that a DIY thing, or can they actually be...

    Dyno disappointment (sort of)

Turbonetics turbine housing, CT-26 compressor housing...previous owner purchased it. Either way, boost was all over because the turbo was blown. Currently, its throwing oil at the air filter.

    Dyno disappointment (sort of)

I consider the result subpar because I never came close to pushing the set-up due to the turbo checking out (the disappointment). The mods listed are the highlights in addition to the usual ones (fuel pump, fpr, ddp, etc).
