post pictures if possible. check the parting lines all the way up the car, to see if theyre inconsistent now. the whole unibody might be tweaked.. but yes, without getting the bumper cover off, you really dont know how badly damaged the actual 'car' is.. youre probably going to have to drill out the spot welds, and cut/ weld a section in to get the hatch to close properly, let alone seal right in the future. lotta work (beatin' cuttin' weldin' bondoin' priming, painting, etc) but fairly cheap if you can find a nice junkyard donor and you have a cutting wheel/ welder.

awww. You sucker, Calgary! F the states, Come to Toronto, Most Ma70's per capita and that includes Tokyo. Get yourself to Tiger or Jap or Jspec or any of the other 100 importers and walk off the lot with a Mint, rust free, only slight japanese teenager-trick-style modification, 90' MA70 for like $5K maybe less. Or get whatever else 1990's dream car you want. Drive it home to CA. Nice 4 day excursion.

RHD is not for me. :)

And .. putting a car on rail from the center of the Universe isn't necessarily a bad idea.. providing the car is as good as it is supposed to be (and thats very rare in my experience.. lol)

Boostcraver, I will pm you if I purchase the car tomorrow.

I was concerned about 130,000 km. on the engine. if its good for another 130,000 km then that is good. The turbo was rebuilt about 3000 km ago. (just a CT26)

Ok, man. Just let me know. I'll do anything in my power to help another one of these cars live a little longer:) But FYI, shipping will be a bear...

You could always do a firewall swap. I considered this...It really doesn't seem overly difficult.

1. How much mileage can you get out of a PROPERLY built 7MGTE with ARP studs and HKS headgasket (everything built... cost over 10,000.00, the bills are there for it). The car has only been run using a CT26 with 9 lbs boost.

Fuel milage, or how long will it last? It can get 30 mpg on the highway, but you will average about 18-20 per tank while stabbing the throttle.

The engine can run good up to 200,000 miles with proper maintenance. It will run a lot longer before dying, but not at the same performance. The head needs a valve job every so often, and the cross hatch on the cylinders starts to fade around 200-250k.

Still sitting on the fence with this one, but I popped my 88 out from under the cover and drove it and remembered why I am keeping it. These cars are such a good ride when they are done properly. I may have to quit hunting and just finish my damn car.. lol. I only want one.. but I keep buying em up. (bad habit... I need rehab!)

I know the engine was done properly because I know the shop and it isn't a "repair" shop. You go there if you have cash and want it done right.. no other reason. I know that if the engine was done there, it was done right. The insides are all correct and the modifications to keep it that way were done. Maintenance can be done cheaper than rebuilding. My only worry (other than the body issues) is that the 130,000 km on the engine may have been hard mileage or proper mileage. Its a Supra.. so ... you have to wonder. The turbo was just rebuilt, which means it lasted 130,000 km as well, which is impressive. It has a HKS headgasket and HKS studs (confirmed that) as well as a 3" exhaust with the turbo elbow done properly and a dual stage boost controller (whatever the hell that is.. lol). The boost gauge (HKS) says it spools up to 9 lbs boost which is normal for a MKIII with upped boost but no fuel system upgrade (you can go 11 without hitting fuel cut in Calgary). I believe the CT26 can handle 12 without over stressing the housing.. but no higher safely...

Interior is 7/10, body is 6/10, drivetrain is 9/10 (imo). 4400.00 seems reasonable simply because of the crap that I have looked at over 4 years. I have yet to find a car that drives like mine, but it comes close. Shifts smooth and solid, but does backfire a little when you let the gas off to shift from second to third (which may be because of a vacuum leak somewhere I am guessing). If I'm smart, I would pass on it solely due to body and just finish mine... 24 hours to decide...

OP, I take it since I never saw a pm about it that you didn't buy the car. If you did, hit me up quick on the parts and I'll get em pulled before sending the car to the scrapyard at month's end. I'm moving to a house with a bigger garage at the beginning of June and I'm not taking the parts shell with me so I have room to paint the car I'm keeping. Let me know...

Sorry, I have it on hold right now. Just sold my 88 White and the 90 Red is probably sold as well. I have an appraisal coming for the bodywork/paint on my 88 and if its not too high, I will be going ahead with the purchase. If not, I will be down to (gasp) two Supras!
Should know by this weekend.
