Eh, if "I have the money to pay, I have the money to play."

Or someone is going to figure out how to get past that, it's only a matter of time. The GT-RR.com has continual updates with new things, as people are constantly picking away at the car... LC will mostly become a thing of the past, like fuel cut, speed cut, you get the idea.

And while Nissan may makr it as an undocumented feature, or say it should be used rarely, or discourage uit's use entirely.

Hell even if they say never use it, we've made it hard to get to because you shouldn't!

Then they certainly shouldn't use it's result, that being a very quick time to whatever Kph, as a major marketing feature and major "Gee look at what this car can do, look at what you will be capable of doing if you buy our wizzbang car" in there press through magazines etc. If you arn't actually allowed to do it in the car after you do buy one.

I could just see it now if there were a hidden feature that allowed the supra to rev to 14,000RPM and have boost for one or two tries at 4 bars that allowed it to be the fastest productiion car ever made to 60, and did the 1/4 mile in 7 seconds flat. But then after getting the car you are forbidden to do it, but it seemed like such a shiny feature they touted over and over.

Come to think of it, I bet the car could rev to 14k..............once, LOL, they, knowing toyota, probably would in fact warrenty you anyways because they are damn good like that.

Hell, I've driven my supra freaken hard, from the day I bought it, back in 1990. Yes, I'm the original owner. My tranny has sustained, from day one, without one complaint ever, countless waterbox burnouts, 1/4 mile runs and 2-500RWHP 7m's and one 600+RWHP 7m with nothing more than a clutch upgrade.........ever. I'm about to drop a even more powerful 2j into it's lap now, and only now will I open the thing and give it a once over and refresher. I seruiously doubt from the sounds of it that the GTR tranny would fair life so well in place of my good ol r154.

Your good old R154 isn't tasked with putting 500 horespower through 4 wheels packing a phenomenal amount of grip PERFECTLY several times in a row. Human controlled launches on a manual transmission are always going to be flawed, if you give it too much gas on a launch in your Supra, you're just going to spin away the power, in the GTR that's not going to happen, and if the tires aren't going to give, something else is, in this case, the Transmission...

Like I've previously said, the F430 has a limit of 2 launch controlled launches before the warranty is voided, why don't you lot go hate on that for a while? ;).

Your completely missing my tone and my point. There is no hate here, mostly jabbing fun at my brother who is also a member of these forums and a nissan guy! :p

I am a little surprised though that it is not AT ALL covered, but thats my opinion. I had to notice as well that the new ZR1 has the exact same 0-60 specs, but I am betting that you won't have to KILL the car to make it do this. LOL

It's all good man, just think that the car has been misrepresented by nissan a little bit!

Anyone can clearly see thats got some merit, just as I can see the arguement on Nissan's behalf has some merit.

I just think Nissan is on the weaker side of this conflict, especially when held up against the rest of the industry.

Hate is such a strong word, let's settle on "strongly disagree with" instead, ok?

LOL

I come from a land down under
I guess it's a geographical thing standing 1/4 times mean very little to me and I tend to look at the total package.

I still maintain even without the LC the car is awesome and would still smoke 95% of the cars here (not too great a stretch as most times 90% don't actually run and another 4% have excuses, mine included) ;)

Vette ZR-1 starts @ Thats the 1ZR 104,820 The 3ZR starts @ 114,820 and the Z06 starts at 74,775 for 2009

So ZR-1 Vs GTR in price. Considering the GTR starts @ 60k.... WOW

Audi R8 owns both of them for just a few more bills!

lol wait a second the arguement was on price comparison and how or how I took it you could buy the Zr-1 for about the same... So the GTR being the cheaper of the 2 and now 3 since you threw the audi up I say psssh. Nissan GTR isn't that bad for the price.

the Audi R8 suppose to be around 100k, but considering supply is few, the dealerships are charging extra. So essentially, the R8 is suppose to be the same price as the mentioned corvette, but looks to perform better then any corvette. Imho, the new skyline are overpriced due to the "omg!! They are remaking skylines!!!" but I think it's an over glorified mustang with a bunch of electronics. Sure the technology it possess is astounding and cutting edge, but the skyline lost it's soul. Corvette on the otherhand, sure it's a corvette but why would you spend that much for that when you can buy a badass R8? An R8(according to Top Gear) is faster around their track then a Porsche 911, just as fast as a 911 in a 1 mile drag, and screams sex when going WOT?

Um, no, the R8 is $100K the Z06 is $70K

Z06 has better 1/4mile times and braking times, slalom the R8 wins, but they're VERY close around a track. The R8 was on a wet track when Top Gear did their power board time so I won't fault it in that...

They also pitted the R8 against the 911 Carrera S, which is N/A, the Turbo would have walked all over it...

The new GTR's are also being sold for rediculous prices at dealers...

lol I guess we're the only dealer that sold it at a reasonable price. 73k

http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette/

Theres your vette prices.

But then agian there were people in the mid 90's thinking the supra was well over priced and to go back even further in the mid to late 80's saying the samething about the mk3's we own. New sports cars carry "hype" and if you want something bad enough and can afford it then yes you'll pay for it. Simple as that. lol

I was at Trophy Nissan and they were discussing a GTR that had been brought back and the TC was never turned on. He took it to Redline Track and they said that since he raced the car it is out of warranty, However if he would've bought a 350 he would've been fine. The owner of the dealership told the customer that!! The guy only had 2k miles on it and only been to a 1/8 mile track once. His Transmission started to stick about 300 miles of driving to and from work after going to the track.

The dealership guy preceeded to the the owner of the car that they had a similar claim and they denied him warranty as well with the TC never turned on because he was driving the car too hard and could tell because of the high temps that the tranny was recording.

I don't know but after hearing those two stories, I would never buy a GTR. I think that is total bullshit and you should be able to drive a cheaper super car like it is built to be. Who buys a $60k plus car with 500hp and drives it around like a granny?? Come on!!

I would buy a Camaro, Vette, Challenger over one of these shoot even a 350Z because I can drive it the way that it was built for and not void the warranty. If Nissan put in a little black box to record all the data just to get out of warranty claims on their new found super car, that is just wrong and almost illegal!!!

BTW, the R8's are not all that fast, get one on the hwy with about 450rwhp and you'll be fine:naughty:

I went to Nissan to get my paperwork on my 07 Frontier that was wrecked for Gap info and they asked me if I was going to buy another one and was going to get the new 4x4 frontier and after reading they won't cover it if I go off road with it and after the speech they just gave that customer there is no way in hell I'll buy another nissan anything!!!!

Aren't they supposed to get a manual transmission eventualy? Assuming they don't find a way to screw that up. I wanted to see a turbocharged 350Z or a Silvia more than a GTR. Now we all know that if a GTR wants to test us we may not win the race, but we will be driving home while they get towed.:biglaugh:

That was the owners fault for plain stupidity. If you tell the service manager hey I took my car to a track beat the hell out of it of course they see it as abuse and wont warranty it. That's for any car manufacturer.

Same goes for the 4x4 thing. They don't want you to take a truck off road and abuse it to bring it back and say Hey such and such broke because I was doing this. If this were the case everyone would take their trucks off road and their sports cars to tracks.

Really what it boils down too is common sense and working around the fine print. A dealer cannot decline a warranty claim just because the damn thing recorded transmission temperatures too high.... They would have to figure out why or what could have possibly failed to cause the temp to raise.

What it maybe is that dealers are scared to warranty anything with the GTR because the parts are expensive and/or the trouble getting the parts in a decent time.. On top of that the shop only needs to have 1 certified nissan master tech that is GTR certified. Of course this tech does other things as well besides waiting on GTR's..

But think about it. When you take your truck off road and come back to the dealer complaining that your car dies and lights dim. Of course alternator going out. Tech climbs under there to check it out to find the bottom of the truck caked in mud and the alternator just covered with it. Of course they won't warranty it. Thats a form of abuse/neglect.

Just how it works with any car dealer. Glad to see you aren't going back to Nissan tho! Sad thing is I work for nissan :(

They are kicking around the idea of a manual trans... Dunno if it will happen but the spec-v GTR will be a nice performer when they work out all the kinks of the GTR now

well, about two weeks ago, my and my buddy were driving up in Osaka, i only have a HCR32 but i swaped out the RB20 for the RB26, and i was racing the GTR on the sanyo, the only damn thing is, the factory speed cut cant be taken out so i was stoping this damn GTR like it was cool. I mean why would you want to buy a car thats worth so much, but YOU CANT GO OVER 100MPH, so whats the point of the car (yes i know its set at 118), but im just saying, yes the car can handel, but it will only be able to bring the damn thing out to a certifided track that has that little sensor to tell the computer to open up and all.

The Pagani is a little out of the price range that we are talking about.

The Z06 will walk that R8 easily. ZR1 would have NO problem.
