You know, I STILL would pick an Ariel Atom over a GTR any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

If you have not ever seen the BBC Topgear episode that they test it on you really owe it to yourself to wander on over to youtube and watch it.

It's funny, it's amusing and most of the car is freaking damned amazing, like seriously so!

Faster the a CBR RR around the track! Thats impressive for anything, but I believe it was in fact 4 seconds faster and only beaten out by a Ferrari Enzo and even then only by 2 100th's of a second or something silly like that.

I even like the crazy look of the thing.

I have to disagree about the CBR thing, the motorcycle rider wasn't pushing the bike to even half it's potentials.

Motorcycles aren't as fast in the corners as a good car/supercar/racecar is. Can't argue with the grip...

One day I'd like to own and atom just because it's one of th cheapest supercars out there and is faster than most.

that's because you gotta lean the bitch over...I bet if you took the best motoGP racer and put him on the CBR and the best formula 1 racer and put him on the atom, I think the cbr would win.

all that hype over the GTR... and look how AWESOME it is!

features you cant use.
transmissions that cost an arm, leg, and then some toes.
dealer "services" which should be called blackmail.
"if you dont get your oil from us you dont get a warranty".... wtf?

tell me again why you would want to buy a GTR? to say "i own a GTR"... what?
i would love to see somebody add air to their tires at home, and then go to the dealer and have nissan tell them the warranty was voided because of "tampering with the vehicle tire valves"... hahahaha

Nissan = FTL

Seriously, why offer this feature if your not supposed to use the feature.

Launch control is not a support feature. As far as nissan is concerned, it doesn't exist. Oh, by the way, the 3.5 0 - 60 time posted was without LC. With it, times as low as 3.3sec have been recorded.

The GTR and the Atom are two COMPLETELY different cars. One is a full fledged supercar/Grand Tourer that easily hangs with it's competitors that cost several times more and the other is bits of scaffolding with an engine attached. It is not nearly as mental as you inital think seeing how Britain have been producing kit cars like that for years,

I've thought about it and I think that Nissan shouldn't have to pay shit. Why should they pick up the tab because the owner decided to rag the fuck out of his car doing several full bore starts in a row? When you try to and launch 500 odd horsepower through a running gear that offers the sort of grip that the GTR does, something has to give, and in this case, it is the transmission. I do believe that a little more warning should have been given to the owner though "Warning! VDC off - If you break shit, don't call us" :biglaugh:.

It's called a warranty. If I wanted a car that expensive with no warranty and that WOULDN'T BREAK, I'd by a modded MKIV Supra...

I agree with that kid.

NO manufacturer will warranty your car if all you do is beat the shit out of it.

You all do know Nissan has a little black box, that tracks stuff on the car, If you come in for a transmission warranty, and they see you used launch control what? 3 or 4 times in succession, then yeah, fuck you, buy your own transmission, YOU are the one who fucked it up.

I back Nissan, and I would love to care for a new GT-R

So Nissan's warranty must cover stupidity now? The owner was told explicitly not to do something, but did it anyway, broke something and now wants Nissan to pick up the tab.

The only come back the guy has is that Nissan didn't give me any warning to how many times he could turn off VDC. In this very case then yes, he should get his car fixed, but the document that HE SIGNED should be reworded to say that it can only be turned off X amount of times and tell everyone who breaks their car in this manor from now on to get their cheque book out for another tranny...

Most supercars have rules like that....I know in Ferrari's you HAVE TO do the services to keep the warranty. You HAVE TO get your oil changed at a Ferrari dealership and use whatever oil that it(use to be Pennzoil now i believe it is quakerstate). You HAVE TO use Shell 93 octane. But then again most super cars with 500+hp have transmissions with launch control that can hold 500+hp.

Yep, it's a feature on the car, if they didn't want it used, don't include it.

Also, one of the guys on SF had his tranny stick in park... there is a reason they have stopped filling orders on the GTR for the moment, there IS a problem.

I'd own one :)
(and I wouldn't use LC)
