not trying to say you guys dont know what your doing , just if you take it to a different machine shop for disassembly, tell them there is a problem and tell them to check everything due to a noise im sure they will find something. Different point of view ya know.`

Jay- What about when you accidently started the car up without prime? Wouldn't that cause some noise?

NO!!!!!!!!........The car didn't start right away to begin with so the gauge had 15psi of pressure to begin with. Then yes the wrong Fuse got pulled since we were in a rush. However as soon as it fired we turned turned it off, it ran for a second or so MAX. We then pulled the fuse and primed some more up to approximately 25-30psi.

No. Certainly not the noise we are hearing. As Ive said before I could start a car with ZERO oil in it and it would take a little longer to have a noise like we are hearing instantly.

Not to mention the car DID have oil pressure before it actually STARTED. Bill had to turn it over about 3 times before it started because the fuel hadnt made it up to the injectors yet anyways. There was about 15psi of pressure as Bill has said.

On top of that the assembly lube is there to help with initial startups.

And on top of that even, the previous build was primed to about 30psi of pressure before start up and STILL had the same noise out of the box. Another reason why Im starting to think it is piston slap. And the bad bearings were dumb luck (or unlucky I guess it would be.)

How about posting a video like before?

Really no point. Its almost impossible to tell what noises are over the internet and it will just have people screaming rod knock from the rafters.

It sounds like it did last time so I believe there is video of that floating around already anyways.

Any news?

Heh... Well Bill went and bought what was SUPPOSED to be a good running engine.... Just so he could put it in the car and enjoy the car a bit while he looks for another block setup to start fresh with the forged stuff.

So we pulled the forged engine and swapped over the head and intake and exhaust and turbo stuff etc to the block of the engine he bought. Put it in and it started right up. Then KNOCKED. :nono:

Sooooo needless to say that freaking sucks. HOWEVER... on a sidenote...we pulled the rod caps off and checked the bearings of the forged engine...and the bearings look FINE. So we are pretty damn sure now that the "knock" WAS infact a bad case of piston slap because of the large piston to bore clearance.

So dont know if Bill is gonna drive the knocked engine thats in the car until it blows up lol...just because (for the record the t66 at only about 11psi felt pretty damn nice when we drove the car.... :biglaugh:). Or if hes going to pull it back out and bring it the guy who he bought it from and get his money back since the guy said if he didnt work he could bring it back.

Either way another engine another non running properly supra.... BUT like i said at least we seem to have figured out what the "knocking" noise in the forged was.

Bill will add more if there is anything lol.

Plastigauge the Cam caps.....

Just seems funny that the knock sound follows that head around!

Hahaha... oh no this sound is COMPLETELY different then the sound we had from the two forged engines.

Forged sound: Instant, at idle, LOUD, constant.
This sound: Cant hear at idle, Quiet, Very audible right around 2500 RPM (rod knock WHAT! haha) etc...

They are most certainly blatantly different.

Although I can see where youre going with the noise following the head. Id agree but the noises are completely different. :D

Here are pics of #1 and 6 rod caps. So as you can see definitely NOT rod knock.

hahahah tell me about....I thought I was going to have a properly running supra for a-while until I could re-do my forged motor and I'm back to square one now. Bought the motor from a mechanic shop that pulled the motor due to a wreck and told me no noises,no overheating ran perfectly fine etc..... So ya I must be the unluckiest supra owner ever lol
