Yep it sucks big time....I feel the same way sometimes resenting the car and the cluster fuck of my garage because of it. I've sank sooo much money into it to not be able to enjoy it. Thats why starting tomorrow we are spending like 4 straight days on it. At the end of that I'll either have a done supra that I can drive whenever I want or I'll have a Part-out thread up.

Likewise! lol

I'm still wondering about the crank scraper. Are you guys still using it?

Crank Scrapper is not being used anymore. Reason being is for a little bit we thought that was some of our problems turned out not to be. However it was causing an oil leak at the oil pan. Which I BELIEVE IJ said just put in like 1mm washer at ever bolt hole and then the FIPG and would be good to go. However I decided I don't want to mess with it anymore I don't want to take any chance of it moving and messing up So it is in my wasted money pile.

Should have updates all weekend.

Well.............Got the motor all built and dropped it in on Saturday night, hooked it up Sunday morning......Started it and motor is still not right instant problems just like the last time:(

So I'm fed up and done can't keep sinking money into something that I/we cant figure out the problem.....So basically keep an eye out for my Part out thread which will be coming soon and will be saying goodbye to the supra game:sadwavey:. I Want to get the motor pulled again first before I post the thread as I don't want people having to wait for parts......Thanks

Damn that sucks bro, what the hell is goin on, sounds like builder error IMO!

Not saying that you dont know what your doing or anything, but something is getting done the wrong way somehow!

Hopefully you get it fixed with n o problems/money :)

Bill, you gotta find out why the motor keeps doin this... Oil pump? I dunno... But dont give up yet...

Brand new modded(from soapra) oil pump with 60-70psi on cold start and 20ish fully warmed with excellent throttle response.

Brand new crowers, weisco's,titan mains, arp hardware everywhere, torqued with brand new torque wrench only used to torque the motor and nothing else...yada yada yada....there is no reason for this...I've spent more at machine shops then most people spend on their whole build:confused:

He has no clue either....he has been there every build and drop in. There is nothing we could/would do differently........I know I'm really depressed about it all right now. If it was a matter of time and energy thats one thing but each one of these failures is racking up that money which is 100% unrecoverable. New parts etc not a big deal can always sell them and get something back but all these machine shop bills at 700+ a pop is getting out of control for trial and error right now. I don't want to give up but unless someone comes up with an idea that is like "o shit ya thats the problem" I just don't think I can do it again.

Buy a new motor... Seriously, you've come this far, there may be something dramatically wrong with that block... Get a JDM block or a motor from someone local... Hell, pop the hood of Jay's car and sneak off with his motor, he wont notice, lol...

I say leave it together bring it to our shop here in jax and have our boys pull it apart and check everything. Two of the guys here (not including me) have their engines built here and one is flat out BAD ASS! Tachyon racing engine. Bitchin guys, been in the game for 25+ years building racing engines. Never heard one bad thing about them, never seen one failure from a bad maching standpoint. Part failures are not that common with aftermarket parts....i think its the shop also. Somebody isn;t checking behind themselves.

I have helped build the engine the last couple of times. Pretty much from start to finish. I have a pretty good idea of what needs to be done and have built about 8 other 7Ms that have zero problems (at least that arent owner caused later on lol).

This one has been a gremlin after a gremlin after a gremlin.

We have a noise however the more I think about it the more I think its a SEVERE case of piston slap. IJ has gone over this whole thing with me as well and I believe hes thinking around the same thing... everything we have done has been right. The only problem we can come up with is the piston to bore clearance being a bit too much. Although its in spec it would explain a massive piston slap being about .0057" whereas max would be .006" in and what you would want would be in the .003-.004" range. The Wisecos are also coated which stops them from heating up and expanding as much as non coated pistons would to possibly quiet the noise down.

The last build we got unlucky with debris not being cleaned out of the crank oil passages (we believe) after machine work was done to it. This build we made sure that was done two times over and everything else was cleaned.

Started up and the noise was there and the same audible level. This makes me really think about the piston slap but the truth will be told when we pull it and check the bearings this time. If infact the bearings are toast then I think the noise might still be piston slap BUT there is something stuck in oil passages in the block that isnt getting cleaned for some reason.

Sat we will see where we stand.
