I got my block and head this evening. It cost me a total of four hundred dollars even for boring the block for the .040 over pistons, cleaning the crank and block, cleaning the head, installing the new crower springs and retainers, and assembling the block with my new rods and pistons. That also included the new rod bearings. I don't think that is too unfair. If it is, it's too late now, I've already paid him. I hope to start working on it tomorrow if I can get some help up here to help me get it on the engine stand.

i think thats fair - if he did a good job :D

Looks Great.... when I painted mine I taped off all of the ABS lines, that sucked!!!! Don't forget to reinstall your quad sweep inverters, those will "get you where you need to be.":icon_wink

I have no idea what quad sweep inverters are. I'm sure I'm going to install them if I'm suppose to, but I don't know what they look like. Maybe my car will run better without them..........:biglaugh:

Update, I got the engine about as assembled as I can get it without putting it in the car. I'm going to attempt to degree the cams tomorrow morning and install the motor. I'm shooting for getting everything hooked up tomorrow, including the clutch and transmission. I'm really hoping to try and fire it up tomorrow. I'm sure I've forgotten to order some special part, but as of right now, I can't think of anything that will keep me from starting it. I've got to download the stock 1jz timing map so it will crank, and then I'll adjust it from there.

The time started over when I took the engine out for the second time, so it has only been two months. I hope to get the engine installed today, but I am at the mercy of my helping hand Ricky. If he decides to not show up, then all I can do is twiddle my thumbs. I don't have a concrete driveway, and rolling the engine crane on gravel and dirt is harder than you think. I'm also hoping the cam degreeing goes smoothly this morning, but who knows? Wish me luck.

I'm not down at all Miguel, but I am kinda leary. I don't know how to degree these cams, but it's got to be done. Hopefully I'll be able to figure it out. I mean after all, as far as hillbillies go, I'm a freaking genius..........:biglaugh:

Well, I couldnt figure out how to degree the dam'd cams. I watched the video six or seven times, and he's missing something. He shows himself turning the wheel about a half a turn, and then it shows he's only turned it seven degrees which is bs. Everytime I tried it, I had to turn my wheel 120degrees to get the fifty thousands of lift I wanted. Frome there I was lost. I googled, researched and prayed and nothing helped, so I've got the cams set at zero. If anyone wants to call me and help out, I'm more than willing to listen. 205-243-0622. Until then, I'll just have to leave them where they are.

I'm going to give it one more try. Brian (slow66) just called me and is going to hold my hand through the procedure..........:biglaugh:

I also got some private messaging help from jdub, so I should be good to go. If not, I'm installing them straight up and calling it a day. I would have had my engine in already if I hadn't spent most of the day trying to do a two hour project. Here goes nothing.

Jay - I dont know if you have done this yet, but you should probably take off your exhaust housing and look at the turbine blades before you use it again.

Thanks Cade, but I've already checked them and they look fine. At least they do from the outside. They look brand new.

I finally got the cams degreed today with some help from Brian. It was very easy to do once I got the exhaust cam on the exhaust side and the intake cam on the intake side...........:icon_redf

The intake cam has a big "E" stamped into it, and I thought it meant exhaust, but it wasn't until I noticed the cam sensors on the wrong cam that I new I had messed up. Luckily I found it before I hid it under my newly polished valve covers.

Here are a couple pictures I took today. No I don't own a garage, so I have to do most of my work outside on gravel and dirt. If I didn't own a supra, I'd have one hell of a garage..........:biglaugh:

I got the cams degreed and I also got the motor in the engine bay without scratching up my new paint job. Unfortunately my cams seem weird to me. They ended up with the exhaust retarded to 10degrees, and the intake retarded to five degrees. I don't know what to say other than I checked them twice before I quit, and that's exactly what I came up with. I know last time my exhaust was retarded to 8degrees, and my intake was advanced four degrees, and that was adjusting them on the dyno. Here's a picture of the engine in, but I've still got a lot to do.
