CP pistons should require very little (if any) "touch up". The ones I've seen are finished as smooth as a baby's arse ;)

Thanks guys. I'll go to the machine shop and take a look at them. If they're all smooth then that will be even better. If they're not, then I'll smooth them out.

I got my new TiAL bov yesterday, and I still have to order some seals and a head gasket, but it won't be long now.

Here are the number I came up with while measuring for my head gasket.

Bore....................87mm
Stroke.................86mm
Gasket diameter....88mm
Head volume.........40mm
Dish volume.......-15.5mm
Deck heigth........-.17779
Compressed gasket....2mm

All this equates to:
Compression ratio........8.439:1
Displacement..........68.721

If I get a 1.9mm head gasket, my compression ratio will go up to 8.5058:1

Any suggestions? Is 8.439:1 going to make me spool up slower with less power, or will I even be able to tell a difference between that and 8.5058? Thanks

I also checked my CP pistons and they were very smooth so I didnt' sand any on them.

My Calcs for your c/r came out differently:

http://www.csgnetwork.com/compcalc.html
http://www.onlineconversion.com/length_common.htm

Bore....................87mm
Stroke.................86mm
Gasket diameter....88mm
Head volume.........40cc
Dish volume.......-15.5cc
Deck heigth........-.17779mm
Compressed gasket....2mm (0.0784")

All this equates to:
Compression ratio........8.68:1
Displacement..........66.60

8.7 wouldnt necessarially be a bad thing....

Oh - your quench will be your head gasket thickness minus the deck height. With a 2mm head gasket your quench will be 1.8221mm or .071"

I didn't know what the conversion for a cc to mm was, but I was told they were the same. As long as yours came out to 8.7 then I'm o.k. with that. I just didn't want 9.0:1 or higher. Thanks Cade.

Cubic Centimeters are a different form of measurement than Millimeters. Volume vs. length so you cant do a conversion - I think you were just plugging the wrong units in.....

I think you will be good with 8.7

Does that mean your car is ready for a rematch? Which car are we talking about, because I"m pretty sure you have at least two supras that I"m aware of..........:biglaugh:

UPDATE
I got my new cam seals and my new rear and front seals. I also got my new hoses, new gasket for my t3 flange, and one for my turbo exhaust. I've ordered my HKS stopper from www.driftmotion.com (who didn't see that coming) and it's suppose to be here on friday. Hopefully, I'll get to install the engine back to where it belongs sometime during the week following next weekend. I still have to have the cams degreed so it's going to take a little longer than last time, but hopefully it'll be right this time.

Thanks to all of those who have offered suggestions and answered my numerous questions, and thanks to all of those who offered moral support and boobies...........:biglaugh:

I'm going to pick up my engine and head today, but the guy at the machine shop isn't going to be able to degree the cams for me until next week. Hopefullly, I can find another how to video or step by step instructions other than that tricked out video. I will have to do them myself or wait a week and a half until he gets back from vacation. I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm going to try and get the motor assembled this weekend somehow. Wish me luck.

Thanks guys.

Mike, I promise you mine will be running within one week, if I haven't forgotten a part or two and as many times as I've taken it apart, I should have plenty of extras...........:biglaugh:

Miguel, I will cut you a little slack for another week, and then all hell is breaking loose if your car isn't done............:evil2:

Scott, The machinist told me he was going to take care of me............now I don't know if that means he's going to give me a reach around while he's sticking it too me or not, but I'll let you know after I pay him today.

Dylan, being older doesn't mean you have more money. I wish the hell it did........:biglaugh:

I got my block and head this evening. It cost me a total of four hundred dollars even for boring the block for the .040 over pistons, cleaning the crank and block, cleaning the head, installing the new crower springs and retainers, and assembling the block with my new rods and pistons. That also included the new rod bearings. I don't think that is too unfair. If it is, it's too late now, I've already paid him. I hope to start working on it tomorrow if I can get some help up here to help me get it on the engine stand.
