Ok and now you can see what I have been working on the last couple of weekends. This fabricating stuff is time consuming as I have stated B4. I had to borrow a welder to. So dont laugh at my welds as this is my first time. Also I didnt have adequate eye protection so I pretty much welded these with my eyes closed. Got everyones attention now???:biglaugh:
Heres some brackets I made for the thermostat and cooler

Very nice.
Jdub talked you into the trasko too? lol
What he got you too?? I tell ya, the man knows his stuff. Whether its needed or not is questionable. Im not doing it just to feel better about having cleaner oil. Im doing it to save money and time on oil changes and to save the environment from all the waste. Im getting enviro friendly in my old age. Plus I want to get my moneys worth out of this oil too.

Nice progress Allen you have made.:naughty: , What size cams did you get 264s ,or the 272s? Fab work is slow and endless but the final results are rewarding.

Thanks John. I got the 264's. I didnt have the guts to get the 272.:naughty: Besides that im not going to be set up for standalone or anything like that in the near future. I dont have the funds or the knowledge for that at the moment. I just want to get this thing on the road at this point.:biglaugh:

The bottom part is some kinda support for the downpipe. If I remember correctly this was a worm gear type strap wrapping around the downpipe with the downpipe pulled against that piece. I think it attaches to the tranny supports coming off the block. Or it might be to the tranny itself. The filter adaptor I bought as a used oil cooler setup. You can get them about anywhere. Just make sure its 3/4 16 thread which is the same as our filters.

For now its going to be stock. I know, not the best setup for the upgraded turbo, but I just dont have the funds to spend on a new setup initially. I will upgrade, but it will take a little time. When I upgrade I will get the one driftmotion sells with their pipe kit.

I installed my valve buckets in but havent checked clearances yet. Im kinda bummed cause my clearances (checked with plastiguage) are the maximum, which are .0051 Im actually thinking about using the stock cams as this build is not going like I want. I was hoping to build this motor with tighter clearances than im getting. I have to decide before I check bucket clearances.

well I worked on the Pressure plate today. Pissed me off!! I spent probably an hour or more trying to get my brand new washers and snap rings, mainly the rings back together. Grrrr. After I got fed up trying to install with the tools I had, I went to Advance and purchased the correct spreader for the job and had them on in 5 minutes. Also I hope I installed the thrust cone spring correctly. As best as I could tell with it installed you can push down on the throwout bearing and it gives, and then bounces back when pressure is released. Can anyone verify this for me?? I hope this is right as I dont want to fool with this again.
Also took my flywheel to get it resurfaced. I see cracks so I wont be using it. Also read on here, after the fact, that you shouldnt turn a flywheel on a brake lathe, like was done with mine, so it doesnt matter anyway. As usual I will post some pics later.

I think im right as I checked my JZ PP that I have and it looks like how I put mine together. I will post a pic anyway, as I always like a second opinion. Im not sure you will be able to see the thrust cone spring installed as my camera doesnt take good close ups. How did you know yours was backward VIC? And what exactly was backwards?

ok heres some pics of stuff I got done this weekend. I wish I could say that I got done as much as Buckshot, but not!
new oil seal installed in the rear. I think I would have been ok with the original as it was still soft but I changed it anyway. Also some Misc of the tranny

p673731_5.jpg

p673731_6.jpg

And then finally I worked on the PP as stated before. Heres some pics with the tool I had to purchase to get the snap rings on. I tried to capture a pic of the thrust cone spring for Victim but I dont think you can tell much
p673731_7.jpg

p673731_8.jpg

p673731_9.jpg

And then last is a pic I snapped of the BC cams vs the stockers. for the heck of it
p673731_10.jpg

I spent part of today getting the bumper back up to check for clearances with everything installed. All seemed to look ok. I also had to make adjustments to the passenger side head light as I could feel too much tension with the light in the down position turning the motor manually.
I also called around to find a new flywheel today. Advance had one for $34. That price seems way to cheap. I had to order it, so I will take my old with me when I pick it up to make sure they even priced me the right part.

you know Im glad you mentioned that as I dont remember if mine even had some on them. What kinda foam did you go back with. My trick to get the tranny clean was the same as everything else i cleaned. The old wire brush on the drill trick. It made that tranny look polished. Really did a good job. Of course had to go through the headache and elbow grease of degreasing first.

Well I broke down and ordered my valve bucket shims after trying every avenue to come up with a cheaper replacement. These thing are rediculoulsy outrageous! The local dealership wanted between $8 and $9 per shim. I ended up getting them from Champion (Jay Marks) Toyota. Ended up figuring to be about $6 per.
