Well heres some pics of thh cleaning of the engine bay done last weekend. Some B4 and after and some just after. These B4 were after I degreased and hosed down the inside last year after I pulled the motor. It was still pretty dirty in there so I had to detail it out a bit more. It took most of an afternoon to do.
Ok so I cant post pics. I think I have gone over my quota of 12.99 MB. Is that right does anyone know. I didnt realize there was a limit on amount of pics you could post. Im going to have to come up with something else for pics. GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ
Ok lets try this way then. Hope it works. The bay is by no means perfect. But its alot better and will hopefully show the pride I have in a clean setup. Alot of the scratches and such will be hidden once the motor is in, and what isnt I can maybe touch up later.

ok links added to post #63 for pics. Here are some of what I did today. Went ahead and disassembled the head to get it ready for polishing. I also have a pic of what I have found so far while dissassembling and just looking around. I piece of rubber which probably from a valve seal and 2 pieces of the casting that were just hanging on by a thread. Those thing WOULD have come dislodged as i just barely touched them with my finger and they fell off. That would have meant sure distruction of something. So in other words dont be afraid to check things out for yourself. It might save you in the long run. I know for a fact is has me so far! Also some pics of my homemade spring compressor

Funny you say that. My machinist metioned painting it black and that is what I pictured. Well he forgot he said that cause when I went to pick it up it was the color it is. And that is just like a special cast iron sealer. I kinda like it after I had it so I dont think its going to get color.

hey man I just read your thread. excellent work. my engine has been out and a bunch of parts sitting in my basement since last summer... still haven't hit the machine shop yet.

I noticed you live in Lex........ who did you have do your machine work?? I really want to take it somewhere I am comfortable with and there is no one like that around me that I can find (and afford). My parents live in Lex and I go there quite a bit.. I would very be interested in using your guy for my machine work! PM me or let me know in here..

Thanks.. and go big blue :p

wow looks like you have some nice parts going together. Our cars should be comparable in power as I see you have a 57 trim as well. I really like the guy I used to machine. He seems to be very honest, and hes not out to get your money. He was constantly telling me what I didnt have to do to save me money. And he also seems very knowlegeable about motors in general. His shop is right beside a high performance shop that specializes in supra's and he has done many 2JZ's and 7M. He was doing another 7m block just after I picked mine up. The place is called Roberts Precision Machine. I'll hook you up with the number later.

Well I started porting and polishing yesterday. Productive somewhat. Not a good weekend all together. I ended up opening one of my exhaust ports up too much. Im not sure if thats going to be a problem or not. I posted in the tech section for some advice. http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s91/mk3forme/b4 and after engine bay/head pics/DSC01095-1.jpg

That was not even the worst part. I started yesterday and did the #1 and 2 exhaust and intake chambers. What I didnt realize until after todays work on #3 and 4 is that the tape I was using to protect the already machined valve seats, were covering the vertical angle of the seat. I was grinding away the lip that is under the seat as this is an obstruction, and was unaware that I was also gettin into the seat. I will take this to the head shop tomorrow to see what can be done. As long as I didnt majorly screw up I will finish the port work and then take it to have it repaired.:3d_frown:

thanks hooked. I just spend over an hour updating this thread with links to photobucket, so I can regain some freedom of posting pics on this forum.

I would greatly appreciate this machinists contact info, no one around here has any experience with supras and I want to take my shit to someone that is proven to know what they are doing with a 7M ;). PM with his phone # or something ;), It's only like a 2 hour drive from where I live to take my engine up there. Excuse me for not rereading your thread, but I just realized that you are in KY also, but does this guy have a CBN macine, and if so, can he measure RA at his shop for the purpose of prepping for a MHG? Thanks!

Thanks for the free bump John! lol. Its Allen on this end. Well since im here I might as well update. I had to work yesterday so not much done. Today I spent all my time trying to finish up the head. I think I have done as much as I can do for it. Now its back to the head shop to see what needs to be done about my valve guides. I took it last Monday and he said I was fine with no damage to worry about. But that was then and there is some now. That exhaust ports are just too small to work from without creating problems to an already cut valve seat. Lesson learned for me. Now I will have to see what can be done to take care of my problem. I also started polishing my exhaust manifold.
The thing that sucks about the manifold is you cant polish the whole runner on the the #1 and #6 exhaust port as its to long and can get the die grinder in there. Or at least I havent figured a way yet. Ill post some pics of the head once I get it back.

MK3forme the best way to complete your rebuild is by using the metal pipe instead of the using the braided line. I am happy you are doing it this way. Nice car and nice family pics too!;)
Hey Quick thanks for the compliments and the company. Glad you could join in.But you lost me on the braided line and metal pipe. Are you referring to oil pump?

Bump on my question ;).
Dont worry I havent forgot about you either. I just havent had the info in front of me when I have been on here. The shop is called Roberts Precision Machine. 469 Curry AVE. Lexington KY 40508. Phone 859-389-9201 Cell-859-492-3094 Robert Newsome is his name.
Now keep in mine he only does block work and not head work. The head guy is another shop. Im not sure of the equipment he has but the RA is very smooth. Im not worried about the block at all. The head on the other hand could be smoother I think. But the head guy does all the work for the performance shop and for Robert and they have buillt many a high horse 2JZ with no BHG problems. Also he does not use a torque plate like I have heard mentioned on here. He sais he will use on if customers request it but it will drive his prices up. I would guess cause he doesnt actually have one, so he would have to get one. He said he has done blocks with and without and there is not that much difference between them. Sorry It took so long to post this.
