Yeah i ended up turning the pressure quite abit before I did the color and clear, not sure why i thought the gun was setup correctly for the primer, but I wetsanded before the topcoat

Theres a tiny bit of orange peel on the hood, but only visible at a very shallow angle, other than that and the few specks that landed during drying it turned out quite good!

So the hood is on, front bumper is on, the nose came off and went back on, taillights are on with new gaskets, misc other stuff reinstalled in the hatch interior area...

Finished grinding material off of the Trans X-Member so my DDP clears it now, and finished my P/S Cooler / rez except for the 1 large hose that goes from the rez to rack...

I would have pictures, but unfortunitely either my camera broke, or my camera cable broke, because neither my PC or laptop recognizes when it's plugged in anymore, so I can't transfer the images

I'm currently waiting on a set of hatch struts, and hood struts, as well as a slew of parts from Toyota, new chrome headlight retainers, the large p/s rez hose, o2 sensor gasket, and abunch of other non-interesting hardware and little bits

Today, finished my power steering circuit, cranked the engine abit to get the fluids flowing... Sure sounds weird cranking it with no plugs in!

Started on the walbro wiring, ran a 10 gauge power wire from the (nonexistant) battery to the front of the fender, back out of the fender through into the firewall under the clutch MC, into the conduit under the door sills, along the stock wiring into the hatch

I bought a inline fuse for it, but I realised it isn't 10 gauge...

I didn't put enough clear down for wetsanding, because I didn't have enough clear left, I just had enough for 2 coats

I've decided I'll get the hood repainted when I eventually repaint the rest of the car

The pictures might be a bit thanks to my broken camera :(

I havent really taken the time to find all the NW guys with builds but I saw that you mentioned you werent going to make PacNW and I thought I would pop in here and give you some encouragment.

It looks like you are on a short list of things left to do, but anyone who has put a car together knows that the last few things seem to take the longest. It wont be long until you are enjoying the fruits of your labor.

Unfortunately, encouragement isn't the problem, it's time

You hit the nail on the head as far as the last few things taking the longest!!

I am waiting on some parts at the moment before I can really continue

Cellphone pics will have to do for now:

As you can see I finished wiring my fuel pump today

Hatch is back on, waiting on struts so i can reinstall the interior

Got some gas and tried pressurizing the fuel system, the FPR went up to about 40 psi, and when I cut power it slowly dropped after a few seconds, I found a nice big leak at the fuel filter fittings :( So I'm not messing with it anymore today before work...

I found the leak, just needed to tighten the banjo bolt on the fuel filter...

Then I asked my friend to connect the FP to B+ in the diag box, while I was underneath the fuel tank looking up for a leak

Nothing leaked, but there was quite a LOUD whine, and no pressure was building so I told him to cut power, thinking maybe I didn't have enough gas.

There's now about 9 gallons of gas in the tank, and the pump still made the same sound, so I guess I just don't realize how loud the walbro is!

Fuel pressure didn't come up at first but I left it on and it took awhile for the fuel pressure to rise, but it very slowly went up to about 30psi when I decided to stop it

Does this sound normal?? The pump and filter are virtually new from IJ...

[EDIT]
I'm pretty sure everything's fine, i tried again and while it did take some time to come up and build full pressure, when it did it hold just fine, and when I adjusted it quickly moved up and down, so I set it to 36 psi (engine off obviously) and called it good! It drops about 1 psi when power is removed then holds

About 1 hour later the pressure dropped to about 10 psi, I'm assuming this kind of steady pressure drop is normal? I see no leak like I did before, I thought I smelt a whiff of gas in the engine bay, but couldn't verify or reproduce it

yea pressure drop is normal man, I remember the first time blake wired my FP with the diagnostic box and heard my pump by it self the first time. Damn it really is loud.

Keep us updated man nice to see its still moving forward. The details are what kill.

My list is getting very short, and I am determined to get it finished as soon as possible!

Mark just updated me on some of my parts, I'm waiting on some washers from japan :biglaugh: so he's going to ship out the rest for me in the mean time. Thanks Mark!

That just leaves me with ordering my air filter, installing it, and figuring out my radiator overflow bottle. I also need to finish putting on my turn signals & grill, get a cap for one of the ports on the accordian hose (not so sure where to get that), and a few other things...

All the small things really add up!

The interior is getting reinstalled, hatch struts installed, I can't use my hood struts because it came with the wrong hardware :(

To be continued soon...

I love all your sounds.

Note to yourself... I won't do that again because gas in the ear could not be less fun.

What kind of paint did you use, and how does the ruby look? I did my Supra engine bay with the better paint, and the ruby is clearly seen in the sun. My uhaul, on the other hand, I painted with 206, but the cheaper paint, and I can only really see the ruby if I run a hose on it.
Just wondering.

Hurry up too.:p

Yeah I was very careful and got as far away as I could so I wouldn't get sprayed, the first time I pressurized it myself then went back and checked and couldn't pinpoint it, but I had an Idea of where it would go. I went back tightened things up and fixed it before checking again anyways :).

The ruby flakes look nice, from far away on bright days, you think there's abit of a red tint, that becomes more and more noticeable as you get closer, I really like it :)

I'm not sure what you mean by cheaper paint, from what I remember I used PPG 2 stage, deltron 2000, DBC, something like that lol. I'm pretty sure it was not the most expensive paint I could've gotten from PPG. But it wasn't a single-stage either.

Anyways, new headlights are on with new retaining rings, headlight covers are on but look like crap, oh well, not worrying about appearance anymore for now.

Turn signals and upper grill are on, finished fastening all the pieces of the nose, lines up with the hood much better now!

Rear interior is all put back on, minus a few missing screws that I will track down later, rear seats back in...

Just need to figure out the air filter, and then I need to mount my overflow tank (won't fit in oem location) which revolves around the filter really...

Then when I'm ready to drive it I'll need to swap the cat-back from my DD, my stock exhaust fell to pieces so I had to borrow the pipes from my build

Damn, these last steps take forever!

Today, after deciding what to do about my overflow tank, I made some mounts for it, so that's done, except for a little bit more grinding and some paint

Ordered my air filter, and a few more T-Band clamps...

Here are some more shitty cell-phone pics!

Wow man great progress.

How much longer do you figure until its running?

Hopefully it will be about 2 weeks, I still have to get insurance, tabs, and all that nonsense to get it road worthy!

Facime;1116825 said:
your air filter gonna fit in there still?

It sure as hell better! I took measurements before I ordered, I got the AEM 3x5 filter, I had a max of 9 inches length, the 8 inch element plus just over an inch for the neck was too big

The filter fits like a glove!

I put in about 6 hours of work today,

As well as the intake, I finished the cooling system, filled it the Zerex G-05 and distilled water, exhaust installed, IC Pipes installed, primed the system, saw some oil pressure start to build, installed spark plugs...

All I really have left to do mechanically is hook up a vacuum line for my BOV

I am abit concerned about my fuel pressure, it really takes a long time to build pressure... it just doesn't seem right, someone please chime in!

When I finished working it was already dark out, so this picture is already outdated :)
