Yeah, everyone is going to have their car's running before mine :biglaugh:

I have no idea what I'm doing, I've lost my mind!
Wait til you see what it looks like now, whenever I say I'm done dissasembling, I take more parts off

Hell yeah Buckshot! I now understand what you mean when you said those pictures are hard to take, and have the flakes appear like they do in person!!

Jag, I love tripping out on the ruby flakes like that.;)
Yeah I know
but that was just to get you to finish yours.

Getting closer to paint each day, my compressor is out of commission right now though, So I'm probably going to replace it with a new Craftsman model, that should be more capable, it's rated at 8.6scfm @ 40 psi... seems to be the best airflow that my budget will allow!

I love all your sounds.
Cool man.. That's the correct way to change the color.

That rubber grommet around the heater core pipe comes out too.;)
Have you considered HVLP for spraying? It never runs out of nice dry air. Just a thought before you buy the loudest air compressor on the planet (sears.)

Thanks :)

Every time I was 'done' disassembling, i started to mask and examine, and everywhere that there was a crease from a part overlapping, All those corners would drive me crazy, and I don't want any unnecessary tape lines! Too bad I don't have time, room, or money to take apart the ENTIRE car, instead of just the engine bay for now, it won't be a perfect color swap, but as long as I get the door sills it should be pretty damn close :)

That grommet comes off without having to go from the inside? Good to know! How about the grommet to the bottom left, I'm pretty sure it's a condensation drain for the AC. Does that come off without dash disassembly?

As far as the HVLP, i got a set of somewhat cheap HVLP guns, I'm assuming by HVLP you're talking about a turbine setup? Heard of those... haven't looked into it

Good tip, thaks!

I need a new air compressor anyways, and I already purchased the spray guns, so I'm still looking around! Despite your advice, I'm still considering the harbor freight / central pneumatic compressor, after more research...

Your cheapish Wagner, is about as much as I'm budgeting for a compressor anyways :biglaugh:

The ruby flakes look AMAZING in person! Pictures cannot do it justice :)

Flashy.
Now don't mess that up putting the engine back in. :biglaugh:

Ha! No Kidding, I'm nervous to go near it already LOL

I'm not letting anyone help with any of the reassembly, I'll probably scratch it up enough, but if someone else does it... :nono:

even a load leveler won't get the tranny low enough to go under, it's not gonna be easy...

BTW, I noticed you're not running the heat sheilds on your exhaust manifold. It'll be a costly mistake as it bakes all the wires and the coolant lines for the turbo and they fall apart....FAST (ask me why I have a brand new engine wiring harness...)

You COULD have the manifold ceramic coated and it may be enough, but I'd get the heatsheilds coated too and put em back on...

Between a load leveler, lots of patience, and a bunch of blankets or towels, I think I'll get by ok!

After those last engine pics I went back and made a few changes, the heat shields being one of them. Running way past budget, not gonna bother ceramic coating anything right now, But I'm building this car for more than this little bitty CT, so once I replace that, I'll probably redo the rest of the hot side

Thanks Kyle, and Buckshot :)
I could've spent abit more time on prep work, the paint job isn't perfect, but for a first time spray (on more than a engine block or little components), I think I did a damn good job :) I think the outside of a car would be easier, the engine bay has all kinds of crazy angles and corners that are difficult to reach! I'm not the tallest guy either, so I struggled on some of the further reaches, but after some careful crawling under the wheel wells, I managed to get pretty good coverage.

Now the assembly can TRULEY commence!!

I will be getting surgery the end of this week though (wisdom teeth) so i'll probably be pretty drugged up and out of comission for a little while
