Never ran 11's but I was very close. I did my 12.0 with a stock internaled 7M that was tired. And it was with a stock R154 and HPF bronse clutch using BFG drag radials.

Too run 11's on a 5spd, you need sticky tires and a good clutch. As far as power, I think somewhere over 450rwhp(probably closer to 500rwhp) should get you there.

should be able to defiantly do it on 450whp with stickey enough tires. one tenth on your 60' is 2 in the ET. take the usual 1.9-1.8 to a 1.6-1.5 and you got yourself a half second.

its most important that the car work, the suspension and tires need to work with the car to be able to launch good. stickey tires on an "ok" suspension with an "ok" launch isnt working together.

Got a friend with a camaro that just plain works, its a heads and cam ls1 with headers full exhaust and intake and goes mid 10's with 1.40 60'ers on ET streets. im not a chevy guy at all but his car works. only mid 400 horsepower. its automatic but still.

Drag radials like M/T ET streets.

You really only need about 370 to 400 RWHP to run into the 11's on a full weight 5 speed mk3

ohh aryte and is your R154 transmission stock? Because my friend, an Eagle Talon owner, was telling me how theres no way I can run 11 seconds on a stock R154 transmission
Hmmm, I just ran an 11.62 on a stock R154 that has bad syncros and a slipping clutch.

tell your friend to take his crank for a walk... unless it already took itself. :sarcasm:

hehehe, the 7bolt crank was the result of a bunch of mitsu engineers that thought it would be funny to machine crankshafts still hungover, reaking of cigarette smoke and cheap saki. :nono:

"are there any tires that are "sticky" enough to help run 11s AND street legal? lolll"

Yes. But you wouldn't want to run them everyday anyway. For example the BFG DR's that I use work great on the street and track. But because of the soft compound, the tread life is only a few thousand miles. It wouldn't be worth it to use them all the time.
So the point is, if your serious about making a good ET, make sure you buy an extra set of rims with some drag racing tires.. Or you could buy a gay AWD car.

People underestimate the R154 5 speed boxes.....
For manual gearboxes ....take a look at what Ryan Woon is running on the stock mk4 supra getrag :)

8 second passes at 170+ mph iirc.....with GREAT 60ft times.

Autos make fast times easier...but its still possible to run fast times with a manual AND have fun on the twisties on the way home :)

Truth. As demonstrated by s turbo 87
well the 11.72 run was with nitrous, but I dont doubt that if it had a better tune and I had more practice it could see 11's without spray. I was running 12.2ish at 115ish without the nitrous. Swapping in an automatic transmission wouldnt hurt either.

and yeah thanks for letting me know that about those tires. I never knew they wear out faster than normal tires although it makes perfect sense now. I'll probably just have to buy an extra set of wheels and I'm never going to get an AWD car lolll.
