Hey,
Anyone know of any good machinists near Atlanta, GA? Any ideas on how much it might cost to resurface the head/block out of the car?
Thanks for the info,
Alex
The pitting is in the first pic.
Is the corrosion around the coolant passages an indicator that I probably need the block machined?
If so, anyone wanna buy a car? :nono:
Hey all,
How likely is it that a ~2-3mm groove was made in the block by a bhg in under 20 days?
It's a 2 inch semicircle around the left side of cylinder 6 about a centimeter away from the cylinder. It was caused by the gasket pushing out.
I ask because I need to know whether I was...
I know you can't tell me very accurately but I'm sure someone can give me a rough guess based on how the HG looks in the pics.
It's not as if I'm gonna throw the head right back on if someone says it doesn't look that bad. :icon_bigg
Thanks.
How badly would you rate this bhg 1 - 10? (10 being screwed)
------
Any idea how long this might have taken to get this bad?
I've been driving it for a month since I swapped it in.
If it probably took more than a month I can get a partial refund from the engine company.
Hey all,
Just pulled the head and found my bhg.
How bad does it look? (minor/severe)
What kind of machining (if any) is probably necessary?
Block: #6 - #4
Block: #3 - #1
Head: #6 - #4
Head: #3 - #1
Thanks for any info.
Same thing happened to me when I pulled my motor. The stock mounts stuck down and the tops ripped off. I replaced 'em with some cheepo solid mounts off of ebay. (nice and shiny -- the vibrations are hardly noticeable)
It's probably just the fact that it's dark outside.
I'm still attempting to get the head off in the dark down here in GA. It would have been out a while back if I had some sunlight.
Now that I picture that it does seem pretty fk'n funny.
Unfortunately the banjo bolt has become extremely stuck thanks to my pull on the head.
Can't get it loose no matter what -- the whole bracket is bending with it.
Kinda had 4 hours to pull the head for the first time. I think overlooking one step out of about 50 isn't that bad.
I appreciate the attempted humor.
edit: not to mention it's 31 degrees outside and 3:20am :biglaugh:
(need to know the status of the head before 5:00)
Hey all,
Anyone have any ideas on how to pull a head solo without a hoist? I've got the head loose and ready to go but can't seem to find a good way to get it out.
I tried standing with my body directly above it and picking it up but then I realized that now I had it up I couldn't set it...
