I haven't been able to keep my battery charged in my 89 with a swapped 7mGTE in it. When it's cold, the engine starts to misfire and then eventually dies. When I leave it overnight it won't start in the morning without a jump.
I'm using the alternator from my old engine (7MGE)...
I just swapped a 7MGTE into my 89 and have brownish coolant. I figure the color is from the engine being out of service from so long as it doesn't seem like an oily bhg color. The engine seems to be overheating a tiny bit.
Could I effectively flush out the system by removing the thermostat...

Its an '89 n/a chassis with an '89 GTE swap.
Everything is stock.
It has an open downpipe at the moment until I can get my exhaust welded back on.

1. Will tranny fluid leak out of the speedo cable connector on the end of the tranny if the cable is not attached?

Can't seem to get my switch/button ignition system working with my new engine/harness/ecu.
Is there a straight-forward way to test if power is making it to the ECU?
If it is getting power and there are no diag codes when the switch is flipped then is the ECU bad?

I just finished swapping in my 7mgte and have a few electrical problemos.
I have a after-market push-start ignition with a switch to the left of it that toggles basic power on/off (stereo, windows etc.). I don't know how it's tapped into the stock wires but I know it was working...
