well i just spent like 5 hours pulling my engine in the dark. most of that time was spent trying to actually lift the engine and trans out. i couldnt get the engine off of the drivers side motor mount. i must have been doing something wrong. has any one else ever had problems pulling their engine?

It's probably just the fact that it's dark outside.

I'm still attempting to get the head off in the dark down here in GA. It would have been out a while back if I had some sunlight.

Same thing happened to me when I pulled my motor. The stock mounts stuck down and the tops ripped off. I replaced 'em with some cheepo solid mounts off of ebay. (nice and shiny -- the vibrations are hardly noticeable)

They almost always fall apart if the motor's never been out.

My brother and I pulled the motor out of his truck last weekend and you could hear the mounts creaking as we lifted the engine.

I thought maybe we missed a bolt on the mounts somewhere, and when we looked down at the motor mount on the drivers side, you could see the rubber part of the mount being stretched from the strain of the pull from the cherry picker.

Then it split and let go with a snap sound. It was welded like the back half of a stock supra driveshaft (sadly the rubber bonding in the drive shafts don't seem to hold as well).

when i was doing taking my engine out last night the mount would stretch really far and then the whole car would start lifting off of the ground.

When I pulled the motor on my parts car a few weeks ago it came off the mounts just fine. It was a dang ground cable that I couldn’t see that got me hung up. I couldn’t believe how much tension one of those cables could handle.

You sure you unbolted the torque bar off of the driver side right abouve the motor mount?? if not thats prolly what made it hard because its bolted to your chassis.

Not all cars have that, as IJ said. My previous Supra had those, but my current one doesn't.

Both sets of motor mounts I had broke when I was taking out each engine. Sucks.

I come from a land down under
After 10>15 times it gets sort of easy pulling the motor (I'm doing it this morning again....)

Both my stock mount were torn 80% through and the Torque Damper was the only thing holding the motor in at 550rwhp ;)
