Hey all,

How likely is it that a ~2-3mm groove was made in the block by a bhg in under 20 days?

It's a 2 inch semicircle around the left side of cylinder 6 about a centimeter away from the cylinder. It was caused by the gasket pushing out.

I ask because I need to know whether I was shipped an internally damaged engine (in which case AMEX is going to work on getting a refund)

PS: NEVER buy from japanracingengines.com -- the engine was shipped on its side and I've had problems ever since.

The pitting is in the first pic.

Is the corrosion around the coolant passages an indicator that I probably need the block machined?

If so, anyone wanna buy a car? :nono:

There's no way that was done in 20 days, especially if you were using the proper antifreeze/water mixture. That block has been jacked up for a lot longer than 20 days I guarantee you.

+1 on the machining.

It's nowhere near how bad the corrosion was on my 7m when I first got my hands on it. The areas where it's rusting in your picture were just plain gone on my block. Cost me quite a bit to get that fixed too.. :3d_frown:
