ok guys...i got a set of 89 tailights from a scrap yard localy. they are in good shape, no cracks or fades..BUT..as we all know, they have a tendancy to collect water over the years. There's mold and dirt floating around between the lenses. Any way to clean the INSIDE of the light really well? (other than the norm, hot water and soap) Can they be taken apart? thanks. -water*logged lights

One great way to get them clean is if you have access to a large UltraSonic Cleaner, using the right soap it'll jiggle everything loose, then a good rinse with DI water and your spot free too. I have been looking for a large one for a while, gonna keep looking cause them things aint cheap.

yeah i did the obvious. soap and hot water and let it soak in the sink over night. than drained and rinsed. but there'e some moldy stuff in between the lenses. that's what i'm trying to get out. i'll probably try to pull apart the lens. i've done that with a friends integra headlight, but that was glass. i'm a little worried to use extreme heat on plastic. BTW---i tired opening that link to Weez'z site to see what he had done, but no pics came up. r there any?

A product called simple green works wonders for this stuff... just put some simple green in with some water and let it sit overnight then clean em out accordingly... amazing product, natural, and wont hurt plastic or vynil... cleaned out my entire interior with it aswell as the little cups under the interior door handles and the little storage box and "coin holder" in the centre console aswell as the console itself.. they all look brand new!

yeah, i swear by simple green. it's good stuff! i don't really have a problem with the cleaning bit (did you see my engine bay?). just trying to figure out the best way to attack it from the inside out. pieces of mold and crap are getting loosened up but stuck between the lenses. still try to figure what i can do....maybe split 'em apart?.. dunno yet.
