I've heard that the honda cbr600 f4i is a good bike for a starter. Dunno if it classifies as inexpensive though. Go check out cycletrader.com

^^^correct. you dont want to start out with a 600 unless your a decent size/weight or you have ridin dirt bikes previously. you can find a 250 ninja for like 500 bucks and move up to the 5000 dollar cbrs later

You wanting in sport bike? or cruiser? or touring?

If and only if you have previous riding experience then i would say go with some 600. Yamaha R6 or Suzuki GSXR600 are my favorites but they are damn peppy and if you dont know what your doing or if your not carefull youll be siting on the ground more than the seat. Anything under a 600 for sport street isnt worth it IMO. Just get a dirt bike to learn on instead.

If your wanting a crusier the suzuki Intruder is a nice bike. You can also usually find them for fairly cheap.

Personally, my first bike is a 2001 Suzuki SV650. It has power and performance to grow into, and is not so touchy. At first it felt big and heavy and scary, and too much power. But after only two weeks of riding I feel like its a fun bike that is not too hard to handle. It has a soft suspension, so if you do something the bike doesn't like, everything feels wrong. It kinda teaches you to be delicate.
I have been having so much fun on a bike. Just really really take your safety seriously! Gear up!

^Safety gear and protection is of UTMOST importance. I've seen too many people get killed or paralyzed for life because they got too cocky and confident with things.

Right. Once you loose the fear of the bike, fear of other motorists, and the fear of your own dumbass doing something stupid I would imagine you are just setting up for disaster.

The Suzuki GS500 is a great starter bike that you wont really out grow in 2 months like a 250 and are very cheap to pick up.

Quite being a wussy, go big or go home as every retard with a skateboard sometimes may say, get a Hayabusa and a good helmet. Then turbo the damn thing and be like BYAHHHHHHHHHHH.

LMAO (note this afformentioned text of Wills7MGTE in no way expresses his serious or mildly realistic ideas and he offers no real advice to be used. He is responsible for nothing he thinks, says, or feels on this forum and wishes you the best of luck in deciding what to do.)

I would suggest that you get like a 2000 or so Ninja EX500. You can probably get one for $2500 or less used. I bought one for my wife for her to learn on. It is by far the easiest bike to learn on.

I had a 2000 ZX6R to learn on. It was a bit top heavy but was still a fun bike. I now have a 2006 CBR600RR. It is a dream to ride. With a base price of $9000, don't think that you want that as a starter bike.

I think a 250 Ninja is probably the best starter bike. That being said I wouldn't pay any $ for one. I got a 92 FZR 600 (Yamaha) for $300. I spent more on my gear than I did on the bike.

If you plan on keeping the bike at all I wouldn't get anything smaller than a 600. Just be smart.

Katana. If you can deal with them being ugly(personal opinion), you can find them for very cheap. My friend just picked up a 91 as a first bike for $1,000(the older ones are better looking anyway.)

Buy an Enduro or SuperMoto. (Easy to learn to ride.)
Like this one.

Then when you figure out if you like street or dirt riding, buy what you really want. (Like my 2006 FZ1.)

First street bike I rode was an '02 R6. Hit 172mph on it and haven't ridden like an idiot since. Guess I just needed to get that out of my system.

Smaller = better for not dying
