I agree with Poodles. On some jobs it just makes it easier to unbolt things and get them out of the way. It will make the install much easier.

Definitly download the manual and print it out. It is probably the best tool you can own when working on these cars.

A couple of things here. Why did you have to bypass the securtiy system and is this an NA that has been converted to a turbo? What ECU are you using?

If you machined the block and the head you will have to machine the front cover as well to allow the head to seat correctly.

It would be so nice to find a totalled Vette and use the LS and the six speed. What an eticket ride that would be.

Here was my set up. Amp was mounted under the stock wood deck to the right side of the spare. Both subs were mounted in the box between the rear suspension mounts. It pounded with the subs pointing back at the glass.

So instead of running the harness across the firewall and entering the passenger compartment, you run it through the firewall just under the throttle cable and route it behind the dash to the ECU? Do you have any pics of this?

A code 51 will throw everything off including timing, which could be the problem. Its probably just dumping a lot of fuel which would explain the bad mileage and lack of power.
