i just changed the hg on my na 2j to the gte hg. i got brand new head bolts and a brand new stock gte hg. i got the mead machined and block cleaned. cleaned all the head bolt threads in the block. lubed all the head bolts and followed the toyota instructions for a gte on torquing the head. 25...
hey viperkiller you say a shop in AZ did the swap. do you happen to know which shop? that car looks familiar haha. no i didnt do the work if it is it. but i may know who did haha.
i havent been taking any pictures really lol. i probably should take some soon. i still have some things to clean up and get done before i take any pictures of it. Any of you guys plan on going to vegas this year, could have a little section going of na-t 2js lol. ill try and get some pics up...
i have an on center exhaust housing for my turbo so it was pretty much going to be smashed if i continued to drop motor in. I just decided to cut the manifold and weld it. i figure when i go for a new turbo setup whats 130 dollars to just buy another manifold lol. this is just a temporary setup...
congrats on the good news. im the guy arz is talking about that is doing the swap also. im running into an issue that my turbo has no room with that exhaust manifold. i have the ebay one. how much room do you have from the strut tower?
nope. inducer haha. they can go HUGE on there. of course some custom machining of the bacl plate, and a new compressor housing will have to be done. the turbo already had an 86mm exducer on the compressor side
i think i got lucky. i found that turbo on ebay for 460 or soemthing, and it was a non wastegated housing. so it would clock and fit perfectly. it was considered a performance h1e. Another great thing about it is i asked my local turbo shop if i wanted to upgrade compressor wheels how large...
i told you in the rain 3rd. it was dry when i did it in 2nd tho. burned out all the way down freeway on ramp. letting off and getting back on it again. i gave up and just let off lol.
and the reson why you havent found anything is because not very many people have done it. i did research for a...
i had an h1e which is considered an hx40. which is able to flow 72 or 75lbs/min. which is more than a gt40. the compressor wheel inducer and exducer are the same exact size on the turbos but my h1e had an antisurge inlet and a bigger compressor housing.
theres more than just one exhaust housing man. you can go with a bunch of different sizes if you go with the hx series it seems like.
And i know my supra with the 7m would do 18lbs which was full boost right around 4k. im not too sure because it was hard to pay attention to all that at once...
i think its cost. and maybe a little to do with its hard to find any info on holsets. theres a lot of dsm guys that are using hx35's and hx40's. i think my next turbo will be an hx40 with a 12cm housing. i just cant ditch the fact that these turbos are so cheap yet so reliable and can flow so...
definitely in the motor design and fuel. if you get a turbo that can push a diesel motor to 500 hp you have a mean turbo. plus dont think of it as how much it can make on a motor. look at wheel sizes and housing sizes. also think about flow.I bought the turbo because of the flow rate it was said...
pretty much for reliability you cant kill them. they have shafts that are twice the diameter. they can flow a lot of air, i believe the hx40 is something like 72lbs/min. These turbos are designed to run high boost all day.
would one of the 9cm housing fit the h1e? i had a guy from my local turbo shop call holset and they said the smallest size for the h1e was 14. which i ordered that one too haha. but it was a t3 housing. im tempted to go with another holset turbo for my 2j, but i am also looking at a precistion...
T4 16cm^2 housing. i still dont recommend that large of a turbine housing. But at 10psi i would just barely beat a 12 second fox body stang. stock IC and lower IC pipe :-). made a huge difference when i changed ic's and piping tho. could not keep traction at 12 psi in second. and passing traffic...
i had a holset h1e on my 7m. it had a 16cm2 housing. first gear had about 8 pounds. second would hit 18 at a little after 4k. 3rd i wasnt paying attention, and 4th my motor blew :-(
Its a turbo car. would there be any benefit to using the 2j electronics as opposed the the 7m harness? higher rev limit, better timing maps? just newer technology, then again they are kinda the sam except for 2j has a distributor instead of cps. Ideally I should want a cps shouldnt I? But i'm...
