While we're on the subject JJ, it seems, , that when I first "get on it" it will run ok, and when I get on it the second time it will run better. My imagination? Or the ECU remapping to run that way?

Pull the cam gear cover, check the marks, and verify that the #1 is at TDC, the crank pully is on the "0" mark, the rotor is pointing at #1 wire.
Most times you will find the marks don't line up due to improper install of the timing belt.

You didn't get a Supra motor if the mounts are different, you got a Cressida. As far as the EGR system, a lot say change it over, some say just leave it off. There's several threads about the purpose of it. Probably a few at the bottom of this page :) Nope I just checked.
Any set up I believe can be uppredictable, you just have to know it's limitations and yours. Good place to learn these things is on a track, xcross, something like that.
