I 2nd buying a pre-swapped 1J car. It is about the same price and no headaches.
However, I understand if you want to do the swap your self. It is always fun and very satisfying when it is all done by you.
Soarer engines are good for a couple of reasons. Usually they are cheap. Also...
I assume you are using -10 lines?
A few people out there have -10 flange to oil drain flange, including ARZ.
The oem VVTi one would have a drain hose fitting.
On this particular radiator, the issues reported are with the 2 side electric fans. It is a little tough to get them in. After a little wrestling, it all goes in as it should. This is typical of a radiator that is so much thicker then stock.
It comes WITH a high pressure cap as well.
There is a picture floating around where someone had put twin CTs on a 2JZ. I don't know if it ever ran though. The setup was on eBay.
If you can find it, you can at least see how it looked.
Too bad the IC kit they are showing and the part number is for a Nissan.
HAMS did a write up on this IC kit on the other site. It is a very high quality kit and fits well. No "home depot" brackets here. This core is actually thicker then the eBay intercooler and uses less piping.
Of...
I took this a while back. I wanted to see if I could see the difference in spark from a stock ignition to a capacitive ignition add on (MSD, Crane, etc).
Pic 1 is the stock ignition at long exposure. You can see 2 sparks.
Pic 2 is the capacitive ignition box added. Notice the multiple...
I doubt it is rod knock. Rod knock is very obvious and comes from the bottom.
All I know is that videos online never sound like real life, so get a supra expert over there real quick.
From here, it sounds like a typical out of clearance head, but as you said this is not the case. The...
It is surely not worth the $200+ price cost. However, if you can get one cheap and put it on your NA, you will love the results.
I put an ignition box on all my NA supras and I have had many. Every time I take it back off to change cars, engines, etc. I hate the decrease in response.
You will notice an overall smoother running engine.
It does not translate into power, but you can feel the difference. Basically the fatter spark is going to give you a more complete combustion burn, so your efficiency goes up.
I picked up some better couplers, so I'm ready to provide 3 intake pipe kits without cold air. They are going to be $75 for the first three. This is the piping, couplers, and clamps only. This includes 2 multi layer black couplers, 4 t bolt clamps, and the intake pipe.
The front part of...
I mean the Toyota 2JZGTE MAF. It has the same output as a GM type MAF. My split second unit was for a ford MAF but I recalibrated it for a Toyota MAF. It was win win, since I got it for $50 shipped, and has a stock air temp sensor inside. This way it was 3" in and out, so no funky couplers...
I'm on board.
I would rebuild that turbo before you use it. I one examined and the bearings were not a good quality which leads to many of the failures you hear about.
Also, you might want to check that turbo fitment in the engine bay. That thick spacer pushes the turbo very close to teh...
You could get up to $500 if it was clean. However, FINDING someone that "needs" a 7MGE is highly unlikely.
If you remove the engine, it is clean and working, and sell it with the harness/ecu and all electronics, I'm sure you can get $500 for everything. You will just be holding on to it...
I love the project, many of us have theorized about how easy it would be.
I would suggest power steering if possible. It would make everything great. I hate to see a nice clean swap ruined by lack of PS. Making the alternator work in the proper location is very easy, just extend the 3...
