If you want something off the shelf, the Tanabe is best suited for NA as it is the quietest one.
Also take a look at our DIY piping kits which you can take to a muffler shop.
The NA exhaust that we make, is $399 for a twin tip stainless muffler, and it is not a loud system.
Soarer 1J drops in, actually.
You don't have to short anything, you just re-direct the IG2 wire on the dash connector. Then it will start right up. There will be no neutral start switch then, though.
But at the end of the day, minus a couple of little things, it will work. Lots of 5 spd...
This thread is getting way off topic. It was about cold air intakes, it is now moved to AFM removal.
On the original subject, we sell cold air kits for the stock AFM. Moving the intake outside lets the AFM sense cooler and NOT pull timing as much. The difference is noticeable. A full...
I have just done this.
Original engine was a 89 Turbo 7M. The new engine was a 92 7M NA complete with only 120k.
The shell was abandoned, so I put in the NA for my lil bro for his first car.
Required changes were (loosely from memory):
- Dash cluster changed to NA
- No IC or oil...
EFI water temp sensor.
The green one behind the power steering resevoir, if turbo.
Will cause a shitty cold start if it is not working OR the wires to it have broken off.
NA to 1j adds a little more work.
But $4500 parts and labor for 1j swap? That is either a good deal, shotty work, or they are using the original w58.
Having someone else do the 1j swap, start to finish, and you pick up the keys, you have to figure $6000.
Well, I was *about* to use one. Then someone offered me too much for it, and I sold it.
Upon inspection though, most of the important things had the same color as JZA70. So it wouldn't have been hard to get the car somewhat running.
I would still suggest a JZA70 harness though.
LOUD
It will be fun at first, but you will get tired of it. A resonator will help, but you are going to need actually a second muffler right before the rear axles for it to sound nice.
Otherwise, you will end up having to close that little sound tuning thing in the end and basically...
For all those people that debate whether or not to keep their MK3, the choice has already been made.
If you have to ask, if you should have an MK3, then you should not have one, in my opinion.
I am signed up for life. I wake up and think MK3, and fall asleep thinking MK3. I will never do...
