LMK and I'll assemble it for ya for $50 (I have all the correct tools)...the key for the upper is does it use the stock barrel nut. That depends on the forestock you select.
You also need to think about what sight configuration you want to use.
That GunBroker ad has been running for some time now. If you do decide to build an upper, the barrel nut has a torque spec ;)
BTW - LaRue Tactical barrels are made by Lothar Walther.
I have used YHM forestocks - the quality is excellent. I have not used their lowers/uppers, same for Lewis machine. I also have heard no complains about them either...I would match the upper to the lower.
I would recommend a 16" barrel if you are building a carbine (sounds like you are), you...
The term "mil spec" is a misnomer - in the AR-15 world the receivers vary a bit. My recommendation is to match the upper to the lower (same brand) if at all possible. That said, you will find Colt, Noveske & FN the most consistent tolerance wise to the M-16. The American Spirit Arms...
The tubes are pretty much the same, but having said that, I prefer to use the Vltor tubes - the threads are always perfect. Use a castle type nut to secure and you will need the correct tool to do so. Make sure you get the correct spec tube for the MOE stock - there are 2 versions of the MOE -...
Red Line is the best IMO for either tranny - MT-90 for the higher HP cars (actually any Supra), MTL for your basic stock supra. The Ford gear oils (without the modifier) work well too.
I would change the RP out ASAP - it's fine for open differentials or a LSD.
RP gear oil also contains the friction modifiers used in an LSD, therefore it too is not suited for a R-154 or W58. You can get away with it - for a while anyway - all depends on the condition of the tranny. Eventually you will have trouble with the synchro's - the friction modifier is too...
If you used Red Line 75W-90 (vs 75W-90NS), you are using a gear oil that was meant for an LSD - the friction modifier in it's formulation will cause all kind of problems. Plus the synchro's in an R-154 do not like most GL5 gear oils.
You want to use Red Line MT-90.
Lucas is snake oil - the...
IIRC - this oil is ester based, and hence is very expensive. The 0W-40 has about the same viscosity (hot & cold) that Pennzoil Ultra has - a bit thicker than GC. It would work well in your engine and will def do a number cleaning it out. For free, I'd use it - personally I would not purchase...
Either oil will work well in any of the Supra engines. The Ultra 0W-30 has slightly less viscosity than GC cold or hot...more so on the cold side. The Ultra 0W-40 has about the same viscosity as GC cold and slightly higher viscosity hot. Both oils show very little difference hot (a 1.1 cst...
It's IJ ;)
The tranny computer controls shifts - pull the diagnostic codes:
http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?Section=AT&P=13
There's also a troubleshooting section for the tranny in the same TSRM section above - might want to read it.
I would also pull the main ECU...
Flush the fluid and change the filter (screen) in the pan. Fluid does make a difference - I have had success using Castrol Import Dex III. It's a semi-synthetic - I tried Amsoil synthetic universal ATF and got some slip in my tranny. Replaced with the Castrol and no more problem. There's a...
The CPS should look like what's in the 2nd link (pic) - does not matter how you get it into that position as long as the cranl damper is pointing at zero and both cam gears are pointing at the back cover index.
It was responded to in exactly the manner it deserves. You are new to the site and do not have a clue how many times this has been beat to death. This type of response will get you zero help from those that actually know what they are doing - you need to grow a thicker skin if you plan on...
Tis true...LOL. I assumed he meant "electroless".
Only if the base surface is not prepared correctly. Any oxidation or oil and it will not bond correctly...that goes for both processes. Aluminum is more difficult to plate and requires additional chemical prep to make sure the plating will...
