THanks man! I had to get a new clutch for it. The old clutch is starting to slip. The one I got is rated to hold 360 ft/lbs so that should hold me for a little while
I am hoping to get a few of the middle georgia guys up to make a cruise from dahlonega(spelling) to helen on state road 59 I think it is. It's a pretty incredible drive. I did it with a few other supra guys last summer.
Haha yea. I am from Atlanta (gwinnett county area) but I am in school in Milledgeville. Graduating in a few weeks so who knows where i'll end up after that.
Hey Brian welcome to Supramania. I am nate's friend Shaun. We just completed swapping a gte into my 89. Hopefully we can all get together and cruise sometime. I am in Milledgeville and hope to get out that way in the next few weeks. Nice car and I look forward to seeing your progress. Pre-89...
Yea sounds good. It is a re-manufactured one, but i'll give this a shot. Haven't driven it in the rain yet, but every time it has done it, it does seem to be hot. So your starter wasn't making any noise at all? No clicking, etc?
My rebuilt 7mgte has about 620 miles on it or so now. I took it on a two hour trip recently and when I arrived let it cool down then shut it off. Went to start it back and it wouldn't crank at all. I could hear a relay or something clicking that sounded like it was near the ECU. I went inside...
man I didn't even see this until today! I had planned on coming out this year since I am boosted now. I thought it was closer to the summer last year so I didn't think to check this early.
I have heard good things about eristic gasket sets. Along with the gasket, for extra assurance i'd use some type of gasket maker on both surfaces like permatex's "right stuff" or something like that.
Everyone keeps claiming the NPR's will crack. I ended up going with NPR .20" over pistons and they are fine so far, but I only have 500 miles on my motor. Perhaps people think they are forged and not just stock replacement pistons?
If the cylinder walls are scored real bad i'd take it to a...
Well after talking with my supra buddy, I feel a little better. I started noticing this engine "noise" when I got the exhaust put on and wasn't open DP anymore. I drove it 100 miles from Atlanta to where I am at today and the noise never got worse or better. Still only happens on occasionally in...
So I am on a freshly rebuilt GTE. I had the block machined, head rebuilt, crank polished, etc. Did it all...Last night while driving I thought I heard some VERY slight knocking from 2k-3k rpms. Heard it twice among 15 accelerations or so. I cannot hear it in 3rd-5th gear. Barely in 2nd...The oil...
I have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on mine (autometer ultralite II) and it reads just above 25 PSI cruising (60-65mph and 2,700-3,000 RPM's) and just above 0 PSI at idle. My oil pump is also shimmed about 3 millimeters.
Haha yea pretty bad vids. I was still kind of in shock by how much quicker it is than the n/a so I was holding the wheel retarded. But yea i'd like to bump up to a lex AFM and 550's soon.
Northwest, I may check with you in a month or two once the engine is all broken in and get your lex afm...
Yea it came off of the nonturbo engine. We probably just put it in there wrong. I have a second lower hose in good condition I can put on. Thanks guys. My head is still kind of spinning from the swap...it's been a long week.
It is all stock except NGK wires, 3 inch divorced downpipe and an air filter. I love having boost! It was nonturbo a week ago haha
We were doing these 1/2 throttle pulls to seat the piston rings.
