So I am on a freshly rebuilt GTE. I had the block machined, head rebuilt, crank polished, etc. Did it all...Last night while driving I thought I heard some VERY slight knocking from 2k-3k rpms. Heard it twice among 15 accelerations or so. I cannot hear it in 3rd-5th gear. Barely in 2nd...The oil pressure is just above 0 psi at idle and at 25 PSI around 2500 rpm's cruising. I used clevite main and rod bearings and ARP rod bolts torqued to whatever they recommended with moly lube. When the car is parked and I rev it I hear absolutely no knocking or ticking noises. I am due for my 500 mile oil change. Should I bump up from 10w-30 to 10w-40 and pray that some thicker oil will help? I realize eventually this will require pulling the engine out and putting new bearings on (if the crank has not been screwed up to then require getting it turned). Any advice/suggestions?

Well after talking with my supra buddy, I feel a little better. I started noticing this engine "noise" when I got the exhaust put on and wasn't open DP anymore. I drove it 100 miles from Atlanta to where I am at today and the noise never got worse or better. Still only happens on occasionally in first and rare/occasionally in second gear. I have a feeling if it was knock a 100 mile trip would have done the motor in for sure. I know when we were doing the valve shims there were 2 or 3 shims we weren't terribly happy with so it may just be a noisy head.

that's quite possibly.. yeah a trip like that would help a rod knock become more evident under normal circumstances.. sounds like you may escape lol
