Cool unit, IJ. Is there a way to know if the ECU is pulling timing because of knock? Or is it obvious? i.e. huge drop in power, or check engine light? I'm unsure of why my car is having slight surges and dips in power at full boost.
So when the knock sensors are triggered, the ECU drops timing for how long? several seconds? or is it a real-time adjustment? Just wondering because my car is having slight surges and dips in power at 15-17psi.
Thanks Jdub,
So a 1:1 ratio means 15psi of boost adds 15psi of fuel pressure?
Does the lex AFM still read airflow volumes above the fuel cut Hz of 4.99 (iirc)? I'm wondering if I can pull more air through the AFM, but have the signal lowered by my SAFC to lower the fuel cut point on the...
I'm a little confused about how my fuel pressure regulator is supposed to be setup. I have a SX model 15402 http://www.sx-performance.com/15402.PDF
It came with my car and the vac line appears to be connected to the "fuel pressure up" VSV under the intake manifold. What is the purpose of this...
With an unlimited budget, what would you do to your Supra?
I'm thinking I'd want the ultimate street monster, with the fastest spool possible but still massive top end power and traction. Maybe:
- 345/30/18 BF Goodrich drag radials (I actually have room for these:evil2:)
- 3.4L fully...
I emailed first to check stock, then ordered and received my V3 shifter from them, and got it fast. I personally will phone or email most vendors and check on stock before I order. Most vendors just don't keep huge numbers of each item on hand these days, except for places like summit.
After getting tired of having to keep a broomstick or other lame hood prop loose in the car to hold up my carbon hood, I came up with this idea. Feel free to make one yourself!
Parts required:
1 - steel golf shaft, preferably an old 3 wood, or similar :)
2 - misc hardware: Metric hex bolt...
My dashpot was faulty and installing the working one made a big difference! I still think my mod idea is a good one, for all those kids out there venting to atmosphere on the stock AFM.
I'm using a dry Apex'i filter, I forgot to mention that. Perhaps it's my recirculated BOV that is pushing some of the oil and vapors back towards the AFM? It lets out a hell of a lot of air at 15psi.
Would a pre-turbo oil filter be a good idea? Provided it was checked and cleaned very regularly? I know they can starve turbos of oil if neglected.
Any reason to choose something else without the GT turbine wheel? Still learning about these things.
It was cold out tonight, but no where near freezing. I noticed my AFR's which were tuned to 11.5 hitting 12 and 12.5 on occasion. Would cooler air do this? I don't see how unmetered air could be leaking in... Do I need to retune for winter? Running Lex AFM, SAFC, 550's, etc.
Also, my Lex AFM...
The new Comp Turbo triple ceramic ball bearing technology sounds impressive, and if ceramic is 60% lighter, then it should improve spool speed as well. How long have ceramic ball bearings been on the market? How is the reliability compared to steel ball bearings?
Just wondering if I should go...
Good post! I'm pondering ways to raise my fuel cut safely as well. I need a new turbo and a standalone is not in the budget yet. A bigger turbo will have me in fuel cut all the time with 550's.
Been waiting on a gasket to bolt her back up to check for boost leaks. My wideband shows idle and light throttle to be stoich, and it runs great. It's just that my 57trim is smoking and has major shaft play. I'm probably going to put a turbo on that will have me hitting fuel cut every time, so...
The FCD moves the signal? In what way? My FPR is already set to 50psi base pressure, and I have dual walbros, so I have tons of fuel. Am I really maxing out 550's on this little 57trim turbo???
Mostly a light brown. The car runs very well. I'm probably going to replace the turbo anyways. It has so much shaft play, it doesn't seem possible that it will last much longer.
