I'm not sure how well the full-face organic disc of the XTSS will handle a lot of drag racing, but it is awesome on the street. I have done a few practice launches on a deserted side road and it launches well, but does emit that burning smell when slipped too much off the line.
A lot of people...
You can either drill and tap a nipple fitting into the turbo outlet itself, or install one of these into the silicone coupler after the turbo: http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ATP-FTG-010&Category_Code=ATP-FTG1
The Flex-a-lite fan conotroller boxes are garbage. Twice on my car, the fans pulled enough current to melt the solder on the circuit board and have the terminal pull right off. I ended up modding the box with a separate relay.
Update: I also noticed some small leaks in my Koyo rad, and one of the water line banjo bolts on the turbo got very loose and was leaking, so I snugged those up really well. I guess the heat cycling caused that? Hopefully they stay tight for now on...
Current short-term To-Do list::aigo: I was...
I highly recommend the ACT XTSS. I pulled out a 6-puck because it made the car miserable to drive, and the XTSS setup is 100% smooth like stock. The only catch is the clutch pedal is stiff, but it is not bad at all. I have skinny legs and I don't get a sore leg driving the car at all, and it...
Most Koyo radiators only come with a nylon drain plug that makes a hell of a mess when draining the rad. After reading this thread on another forum: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt-tech/282246-resolved-how-empty-koyo-radiator.html it looks like the plug thread is an M10x1.25.
Anyone else...
Making lots of progress Ryan! Can you give me more info on the problem with your Energy bushings? I bought a full set, how can I check to see if mine are correct?
Also, how are you going to use those arms to reduce toe in under power? As you know my car with the stock bushings toes in like...
I think I have a spare 87-88 climate control you can have to try out Dave. But yeah, check that the solenoid clicks open with 12v, and then check to see if those 2 wires are getting 12v when on hot.
Sorry to say it, but it seems that many people, myself included, end up unhappy with HID bulbs in halogen housings. The glare is unavoidable and the beam pattern sucks compared to a proper projector. I have already bought a set of Acura TSX projectors to swap into my car soon.
It seems that very few people know how to rebuild a 7M; it guess they are finicky in that way. My car has a low-mile ORIGINAL 7MGTE with a metal head gasket and I've been beating on it at 400hp for 2 years.
I just got my set in the mail today. I'm hoping to hear feedback that the increase in noise, vibration and harshness is acceptable from the red subframe bushings. I like to try to find that balance between comfort and highest performance.
Did the poly steering bushings fit Ok? I'm just about to attempt to do mine from underneath with the engine in place :(. Mine are oil soaked and falling out.
The GT35 is considered one of the best street turbos. I just put a modified billet GT35 on my car and the spool and power and...
Crap! What a stupid chain reaction. I decided to try out the stiffest setting on my Whiteline front sway bar, which in turn caused the bottom of the bar to push on my turbo outlet pipe which in turn pressed the 45 degress silcone elbow at the turbo into the exhaust manifold and burn it, causing...
Is it safe to remove the damper on my 87? What difference would it make to not have it? My IC pipe is currently getting pinched between it and my Whiteline sway bar.
Also what is the purpose of the damper? To make the wheel not turn sharply over bumps or uneven road? My car has this problem.
It was done while the car was off the road for 1.5 years for the body & paint. So I had forgotten what the car felt like before, plus I added crazy offset wheels and high end tires. But overall, it feels quite solid.
I just did the final brake bedding tonight on my local deserted "tuning road" :) Multiple high-speed stops, and these brakes are very very good. They did begin to show some fade after 3 really hard stops, but no big deal. The rears being almost the same diameter as the fronts tend to lock up...
