Yes, it is a JL w7 8". They are cool and monstrous. I used to be into the bass a bunch, but I am just in for the audio quality now. Besides the fact that that 8" JL w7 would weight 80+ pounds with the box, need a monster amp to push it, and is expensive as hell. It also will not fit the targa in...
Well, my front right caliper was stuck, and has been for a week or so. I pulled it off today, and luckily had the calipers off my old parts car to paint and throw on real quick. While I was waiting for the paint to dry, I figured I would take a picture.
Does your paint do this? :)
An update on the car, I did have a shimmy when I was taking Trey for a ride. Went for a little drive yesterday to fill up the tank, and what do you know, my right front area is smoking. Turns out I either have a caliper stuck, or something fucked up in the brake system.
May 24th. I bet I am a little more eager than you ;)
Just hoping nothing goes wrong before or on the dyno. I think shell hold together very well, and I have a great tuner, but its my first build and dyno session so we will see.
Also when you see all these videos with people making excuses for...
By popular demand, I now present you a few more angles of my pump set up.
Wish I had a lift, it would have made taking these pics much easier, but I hope this gives you all an idea on how and where its mounted. And yes it is solid mounted, and no it isn't horribly loud.
And here is a...
Upgrade turbo to one that needs a larger core.
For a 57 trim, a ffim and 4" IC are way too much for that turbo. There are many better ways to spend that money. Get a smaller IC for less lag, and don't go FFIM unless you plan on a larger turbo in the future.
This guy right here.

It is a bolt in sump. I like the concept, but I have seen a few guys just put a fitting on the bottom of the tank. That way it is much more simple. I am not sure if there is a down side...
Well, idk if you have checked out X-man's car, but he made 510.5hp on a composite head gasket. My goal is to beat that. I am not making it a competition, but would like to beat that. I talked to X-man when I was doing my fuel set up, and he is a really cool guy, so I wouldn't even want to make...
Well, hopefully it holds together for this season.
Just in case it doesn't hold together, here is a little hint on what I will be working on slowly over the summer.
And I have two of these. Going to use the other one for the build.
Yes sir. The IC piping has maybe a half of an inch to the hood.
I bought the car in august of 2011 I believe. Not knowing a damn thing about Supras, and hardly anything about turbo cars. That changed quickly. I think I started modding the car in the winter of 2011, and this past winter is when...
So next came a lot of mocking up and installing of parts on the car.
The silicone elbow in this picture is long gone now. It was touching the manifold, so I decided to take the compressor housing in to get a 45* elbow welded onto it. That solved that problem very well.
In went the electric...
In the late fall my r154 decided to take a shit on me one night. It started popping out of first gear, so I parked it and pulled the transmission the next day. What a pain in the ass it is to pull the trans and not the engine and trans.
So I ordered up some parts from DM again.....
I did the...
If its not one thing its another on these cars.
I had been driving and enjoying this car a lot over the summer, and towards the fall the stock clutch said "fuck you Grant" and it decided it had finally had enough. It had been slipping quite a bit, and it finally let go during some severe...
I wanted to get a turbo timer, so I did not have to let my car cool down and have to wait by it for it to cool off.
I ended up ordering an HKS type 1 turbo timer, but they were out of stock in the US for a long while, so I decided to just get the type 0. Good enough right?
I also bought a...
I have decided to finally make a build thread to keep you guys updated on what I have going on with my car. I have came a long ways since I first bought this car a couple years ago, and have had many ups and downs, and there is going to be many more to come in the future as this build...
Well, today I drove it to work and home, and also met and took SupraTrey for a ride.
I haven't posted any updates on my car lately on any of these forums, but I have been thinking more and more of making a build thread. Anyone that thinks I should please tell me.
Anyways, here is a little...
I did mine at home, but I had to run to work to use the press. Also had to borrow a puller for one of the bearings. I would go with an r154, as you will not have to replace them like you will a w58.
When the thrust washer goes, it will pop out of 1st gear, and I believe sometimes 2nd.
I built...
My favorite part of the video.
"So, Ah, I got an alarm, incase those haters try to hate on me. Ya know."
Sorry to hear man. Thats what youll get with a w58. I did brake my r154, but it was just the thrust washer.
Unless you are going to a FFIM stay with the stock throttle body. The throttle body flange that is on the upper intake manifold is less than 2.5", so it wouldn't make any sense to upgrade the throttle body with the stock manifold.
My daily is a 96 dodge ram with a 5.9 in it. I love it so much, but at the same time it is a gas guzzler, and is nowhere near as comfortable as my Supra. I bought another Supra I was going to daily this last winter, but it was more of a lemon and got parted out. I will most likely find a daily...
