    Custom sized rod bearings? Help

I don't know for sure what the method to the Toyota bearing madness is but my 7M crank pins measured EXACTLY (like right in the middle of the tolerance range of a few ten-thou) as it was blueprinted. To me that's pretty damn good work. Even though their blueprint sytem can be a little...

    Custom sized rod bearings? Help

Couldn't you also just have the rod resized to allow the correct clearance with a 'standard' thickness bearing?

    Transmission selection.

The factory auto, as it sits, doesn't have a great reputation for handling power levels significantly over stock. But as NickM alluded to, you can make improvements to the auto so that it handles elevated power levels better. Try some search queries on the auto trans, there should be tons out...

Thinking About Using Spray Sealer on a MHG?...Might Want to Read This

I agree. I used the copper spray when I reused my MHG. Some people might prefer one of the sprays over the factory coating if they couldn't get good surface finishes and need to fill in deeper machine grooves.

    Removing Crankshaft Pulley...please help

That's pretty amazing that the starter couldn't break it loose (is your battery healthy?). As far as air tools go, the compressor size isn't the most relevant consideration for your current task. You should be looking for a powerful air tool and the line pressure to back it up. Good luck.

Thinking About Using Spray Sealer on a MHG?...Might Want to Read This

So, if you are reusing a MHG or prefer brake quiet or copper sealer on a new gasket, remove the factory coating first. There isn't anything wrong with using the sprays after that. Good info though.

    Official SF thread

Try criticizing US foreign policy (aka global domination) then lament over the way the Constitution/Bill of Rights is being run over roughshod (emphasize 2nd amendment) and be amazed at the level of cognitive dissonance. :biglaugh:

    Drawings for flanges?

What I meant by easier was that you could hand a sketch directly to the operator and they could quickly and easily do the programming right there at the machine instead of handing a sketch to a programmer and then the programmer routing the drawing to the operator. This is based on what I've...

    Drawings for flanges?

If you were going to have them fabbed it would probably be a lot easier to just take a sketch (with accurate dimensions of course) and some plate to a waterjet operator. I think that's how BIC does flanges (sells them separately too). From above, MDC stocks them as well.

    matched crank/bearing set?

Dude, just wait until you are set up to do a full rebuild. Your 'plan' is a textbook example of what not to do especially since it's not even your DD.

    MAFT Setup

I assume you don't have AFR monitoring capability? I would take it easy on the boost until you know what your AFR looks like. IMO, the 3.5" MAF is too big for a mild setup but I can't say for sure. I think you would run a little lean with the 3.5/440 combo. If that happens when you tune you...

    1JZ with a Ct26!?!

In that context it looks great! I do like the routing and the welding looks pretty decent for the machine you used (I have one of those myself). Even though I'm not one of those 1JZ types :greddy: I like the idea of a CT26 replacing the stockers. ;) Hmmm....fuel for the 7M vs 1J show. Which...

    1JZ with a Ct26!?!

One thing. Get some pre bent 180 degree pipes for future manifolds. I don't know if it was supposed to be a joke but that thing is horrible. I just looked at the thread today so pardon me if the pics I just looked at are not representative of the real manifold. :1zhelp:

Thinking about making an aluminum hood and targa.. any interest?

Even if you had large scale forming capabilites it would be pretty difficult. I've done a bit of explosive forming work and it would be possible and much less expensive than traditional forming methods. With a factory hood you could make the die with plaster or similar material. The die would...
