    Sputtery inconsistent idle

I found a boost leak on the stock IC hardline that comes up by the intake. It's on the manufacture line where the plastic comes together. I plugged it with my finger and revved but the car still would sputter and want to die every other rev after it returns to idle. Also I unplugged the...

    Sputtery inconsistent idle

Yeah I set my timing on Monday to 10, I had it at 12 for a while. The issue has been going on since a week after I rebuilt my engine so about 2-3 months ago, but ever so slightly. So at first maybe once a drive and up to the other day it was just a stumble say once a drive that a slight blip of...

    Sputtery inconsistent idle

Just finished buying everything needed to make a pressure controlled boost leak tester, hopefully it's a boost leak rather than something electrical, thanks for the help so far :)

    Sputtery inconsistent idle

The last time it was hard starting like that was when I was trying to teach my sister to drive stick in the supra. She stalled it and it would not start for 30 minutes again. It started the same way it did earlier not in the vid but it took like a 15 second crank and barely caught on then...

    Sputtery inconsistent idle

My car has been dropping rpm's and sputtering/sometimes dying on occasion at stop lights or after accelerating. As of today the issue is consistent and happens anytime after I give it gas. I had my camera with me so I recorded it...

looking for ppl who have personally rebuilt their cps

Oh didn't think of that. My drill is a little lopsided it looks, because the botom rotating part moves just as much as the shaft does. When I hold the rod long ends together and turn they are perf stright also with a metal ruler so I think they are good to use to rebuild :)

Thanks for the help IJ, I measured each rod with a metal ruler and each checks out basically perfect, I though they bent because the pikcups moved around while smashing the dowel out, also my drill is what is lop sided in the vid. so all is well. :)

^ The sum of three numbers is 98. The ratio of the first to the second is 2/3 and the ratio of the second to the third is 5/8. What is the second number? It was 30! not 48 or w/e you said, Not bad for someone with 103 IQ, especially when they get to learn someone with a 145! We could let...

looking for ppl who have personally rebuilt their cps

It looks like it's got some play I'd say .50mm ?? Here is the one I didn't quite finish but what I just realized is by whacking at the dowel the pickups moved up/down causing the reluctor to hit them :) I pushed them all the way down and then shot this. I think this dowel is still okay? Edit...

Thanks IJ you did it again! :) Do you think a machine shop can straighten any slight bend in the rod rather than buy a whole nother bloody cps? Looks like it shifted .50mm ish from the original clearance above the pickup housings.(hitting the housings)

You supported the gear and splined housing on a piece of wood? I clamped down both of these parts in vice with 2 pieces of wood on each side, do you think this could cause the rod to bend? 6mm? You didn't eat into the gear?

After you went through the drill bits on the dowel on the gear, and you are peening it out, if you try and rotate the rod assembly does it now hit the g1 and g2 pickups and not turn completely? I'm not sure if i bent it or not because I can't tell with my eye but this happened with both of...

Thanks for all the help everyone, turns out everything is okay. A slight bend in the outer PS rim by a little less than 1mm so I think everything is going to be just fine. :)
