    Project Clean 87

Turns out Cat doesn't have the v-band clamp I need, so I'm overnighting one from Driftmotion. The machine shop doesn't have 1/16" aluminum 2.5" piping, so I had them weld in a boss on my stainless steel pipe and screwed in the vacuum fitting. The coolant neck looks good, but next month it will...

So I thought you guys might find this funny....

Toyota wants $193 for a 7M PS reservoir.

    1J hydrofan resevoir options?

Interesting idea, I never thought of bleaching it. I'm working on getting a PS reservoir for the 1J right now which is metal, so if I can get that that would be ideal.

    1J hydrofan resevoir options?

I'd rather have a metal reservoir that's polished. Working on getting a 1JZ PS reservoir right now since it's the same size and metal.

    1J hydrofan resevoir options?

There's nothing wrong with my reservoir other than it's stained and yellow.

    1J hydrofan resevoir options?

The hydrofan uses ATF. I haven't looked at the SC400's. Year?

    Project Clean 87

Well I cleaned the hydrofan reservoir and reinstalled that along with new worm gear clamps to replace the shitty Toyota ones that suck as well as wrapping the return line with heat shielding (the shielding I had is too tight of a fit to get the main line wrapped, I'll pick some up tomorrow), I...

    1J hydrofan resevoir options?

I want a new resevoir for my hydrofan but the Toyota part number is invalid. I'm thinking maybe I could use a PS resevoir since they are about the same size and the nipples are the same size. Anybody think this is a bad idea or have any other ideas? Adam

You read the entire thread, again? Damn, that must have taken a couple hours. You must have a lot of free time, lol. Well I just got back from ordering my t-bolt clamp for my air filter and ordering my v-band clamp from Cat (as in tractor trailers). Those parts will be here tomorrow, so...

    Project Clean 87

I just dropped off the upper thermostat neck to be modified as well as the IC piping (straight piece going to the turbo) so it can be replicated in aluminum and the vacuum fitting installed. I also picked up some new hose and clamps for the hydrofan resevoir and some more brake cleaner to clean...

    Project Clean 87

With the help of my roommate/landlord I got a ton done today. I removed the old ground cable that went to my shock tower and she drilled and tapped my spare tire hold down and installed a battery terminal and cable as a new ground. I installed my IC piping with my BOV, ran the vacuum line for...

    Project Clean 87

Got my IC piping and couplers and clamps from Randy today. Yes that is stainless steel. I will be replacing the straight piece of piping with an aluminum pipe. I'll do that Monday. Tomorrow I'll install these pieces, including the BOV.

Tech Question, MKIII Diff + MKIV JDM 3.26 Gearset

I wouldn't recommend launching on that TorSen, they are prone to grenading upon launch, especially with that level of power. The diff you have all depends on what kind of driving you do. If you do the 1/4 mile, I'd recommend the 4.30 LSD since it's the shortest of the gearing (faster...

Tech Question, MKIII Diff + MKIV JDM 3.26 Gearset

Switching to a higher gear ratio would mean less bottom end but higher top end. So your launches would suffer but your freeway cruising would be improved. Doward is selling a 0.66 5th gear for the R154 on a side note, so if you want greater top end this would be an option...

spark plug, need part# for colder plug

I too run the 6097's. NGK's BKR7E is the part number (although I think they changed it recently, can't remember what to). It's a copper plug and the 1J loves it. There are a few members on here running that plug with a 1.5J with 500+ HP. At higher boost levels they use a smaller gap.

    Confused

Fanatics in the midst! *points at Taco*. If it's within budget, buying a MKIII with a 7M that's already had a MHG installed would be ideal since it'll save you time and money. Your budget and timeframe really determine what you get and how fast you get it.
