I've never loctited any flywheel, auto or clutch, and I've never had a problem. I gotta believe there's some other issue afoot here. Perchance some type of obstruction between the flywheel and crank, which would cause the flywheel to not seat properly. Check this thread...
I've seen it posted on here, that when retorqueing, after cracking the bolt, (or nut), you should torque at least 5 ft lbs higher than previously, to get a more accurate torque. Seems reasonable to me, and that's the way I'm going to do it. Can't remember who posted it though.
The other day I had an epiphany, gun metal gray! I was about to pickup more gloss black paint for my block, when I saw a can of gun metal gray. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I grabbed it and ran. Painted the block today. The pic don't do it justice.
