^^ again WTF is the point of that shitty post? The OP didnt ask whether or not you thought the MK3 is a good chassis for a race car or for weight reduction. He has acknowledged to himself that he wants his car to be lighter so he has started this thread for information as to the best way to do...
I like that alloy bumper beam. I considered getting some made up for the front and rear but youd need a lot of material so i think it would be an expensive exercise. its tempting though, those things are just so damn heavy.
I want to weigh my, I never have. I like to think id be somewhere...
My dad has an S2000 and I can tell you stock for stock, the S2000 has MUCH better straight line performance. I drove an 86 for the first time yesterday and it really lacks mid-range torque. It does feel slow when you're used to forced induction but the chassis feels beautiful. The driving...
by fittings you mean for the lines? 160 isnt too bad I guess. What sort of orinetation were they? Fairly similar to the stock arrangement? I know the brembo caliper uses a banjo bolt.
sorry dude but thats a useless post. not everyone wants a supra because its a comfy cruiser.
OP, i have stripped down a lot of stuff off mine. In the interior I removed everything from behind the dash, heater core, fan box etc etc. quite a bit of weight to be removed there, id say 50-70 pounds...
has anyone else done this upgrade? I now have the calipers, pads and rotors ready to go on. The only thing I need are some bolts and washers (easy) and brake lines. Id rather not get something custom made because they will be a rip off. I wonder if the supra rear brake lines will work? If so, I...
i would suggest 3mm aluminium composite panel. Its excellent for that sort of stuff and you can buy it in black or many other colours from most plastics suppliers.
Emerica, no probs mate thanks for letting me know anyway. Bracing the subframe from front to back with an X would increase the stiffness but wont solve the cracking issue. To fix that, you have to do what you see in Ian's pics. They usually crack at the front diff mounts and usually on the right...
that's interesting, you are referring to them being under-torqued I guess? I wonder what the torque settings are. I'm sure the TRSM has them...
Ian do you have any pics of your subframe bracing?
Hey guys,
taking a different route with my JZA70, which has been off the road for almost 12 months with a mysterious electrical issue while I looked for a new auto electrician and tuner. I now have a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 5 which is my daily and since I rarely drive the Supra, I decided I...
emerica: if I fit the spacers, I will probably just let the subframe hang there and slip them in between it and the body. thats the easiest way to do it. but that's obviously fitting them and hoping they dont crack it in the process. i could obviously always pull it out and have it re-enforced...
Im in the process of building my JZA70 for track work. Id still like to use the car on the streets for occasional meets and the odd weekend drive but the priority is to make it handle as well as possible. I have some alloy subframe spacers here for the front and the rear (and also a bunch of...
