Cool pics, but shit there are a lot of trees right near the edge of that racetrack :S
Where is the plug that disconnects the PPS? My steering is extremely light at lower speeds and obviously this is what PPS was designed for but I really dislike it. The controller would be helpful with that...
the little cap that sits on the ball at the end of the shifter pops off and the marlin component pops on. A bit of gear oil helps lube it to make it easier to get on. Then just jam in into the seat and tighten the bolts, its a nice tight fit thsts for sure.
You guys complaining of notchy shifter feel need to recognise that this is the nature of the R154. The short shifter may amplify this feel but it is not a reflection on the shifter itself. The R154 is a mammoth of a thing and was also used in Toyota Landcruiser 4x4s (with a transfer case on the...
that is awesome Alex, congrats! If you are beating Evos out there you obviously have that car of yours very well sorted :)
So its a tick of approval for 9 degrees castor then? Your car still have its power steering system doesn't it?
cheers
Simon
yeah as far as swapping pads goes, they are much simpler. pad wear will be far more even with the twin piston as opposed to the crappy sliding stock caliper. I have the wilwood 4 pots up front too so that is good to know.
I have a similar issue with my car, perhaps not 2 inches of play but quite a bit. The steering just feels a bit numb with quick directional changes. I also have a bit of a knock if I load it up and change direction quickly. Steering rack has been rebuilt, new outter tie rods but inners are not...
Did you end up using the 2mm washers to space the caliper outboard? Also what wilwood calipers are on the front, 6 or 4 pot? How is the pedal feel with the stock master cylinder?
Jose, this is true. I have stripped everything out of the car that does not need to be there and as you said, the rear of the car ends up being much lighter than the front. So, this is of concern to me in regards to brake bias and overall handling/traction. I will see how the 16kg springs go but...
The fuel cell is definitely a good idea if you don't use your car for long hauls. I was thinking about doing this when I eventually go E85 but it takes dedication to the cause to cut your floor pan up!
Jose, how is it with the 10kg spring in the back? That is quite soft for slicks, no? I have...
Phil: Car is only making about 230rwkw currently so 10.5 inch slicks on the back could possibly even cope with more than -2.5 degrees. I hear ya though, I guess it all comes down to who ends up aligning the car. Ideally id like to have someone corner weight it at the same time. Some of those...
Thanks guys, that all makes sense. I guess a lot of it is down to trial and error. Alex you are right, I remember John saying all of that castor induced powersteering failures. Perhaps I will try something in the 6 range and start with 3.5 deg neg camber front and 2.5 in the rear and go from...
The traction rods are damn beefy compared to the OEM ones but id imagine you'd still have the axle tramp issue unless you do something about your rear subframe mounts - I have solid ones here to install. I also have them for the front too but im not sure if they're necessary, in fact im not even...
This is a juicy topic and I was just thinking about all of this on the way home from the workshop (they are just perfecting the cold start btw).
How much camber did the group A cars run at the front? John Smith mentioned something about 5.5deg of caster which is far from 10 so that's...
Hey Jose dont have any pics right now but I will take some tonight or tomorrow and post them up. They are made by beech performance on this forum, they look pretty heavy duty!
Yeah I'm not too fond of it and certainly wouldnt have put it in the car if it was my choice. The car has never run cool in my ownership. Depending on how much the koyo ends up landed, perhaps I will just bite the bullet. Let me know if you find a good deal.
