well here is an easy way to know if it is the plugs. If it is only doing it at high load (WOT) than I would say it is liklely ignition breakup. If it holds you to 5500 rpm just free revving in neutral or at low throttle low load (but high rpm) then I would say it is not ignition related.
also make sure that the connections from the AFM to the turbo are all good and that all the lines attaching to the accordian tube are not broken/unattached.
Helpful post Radiod, but I am wondering how you figure turbo shaft play is at all related to the HG? Im sure if you drove with a bad head gasket that had water in the oil long enough yes the shaft play would increase but I do not think that is a way to check for a bad headgasket or even a...
I doubt it has any correlation to the spark plugs and likely something was put back together incorrectly causing the bad idle. Are you sure it doesnt have a massive IC piping leak? That would cause a terrible idle.
Also since your ISCV was working with the old plugs, and since you don't...
I would have to agree that lifting the front of the car may help some but really isnt necessary if the car has a proper thermostat with the Jiggle valve (most will cut this valve out which is fine to) which allows air to escape to the Rad. If you have a continued issue with this I would...
you must not be checking mk4 prices often. I have seen MANY high mileage/unclean 6spd examples in the 18-22 range especially in the last 6 months. If you want a low mileage well cared for, tastefully done 6spd it is a 25-35k dollar car based on quite a few things.
couple examples - autos can...
I would say that is a pretty good deal on a Turbo 6 speed shell from what I have seen (I have seen some shells priced in the 7k range). With that said, if you plan on going 2jz with the V160 and factory torsen you will be spending quite a lot of money getting it working. You may be better off...
EDIT - incorrect information deleted
With regard to the picture of the progressive springs with some of the spring coils sitting directly on top of each other - this looks like the progressive rate is in effect adding a "helper spring" to the increased spring rate lowering spring done by using...
NA mkiv's are about 3200-3300 lbs, they do not weigh as much as mk3's.

Supraforums, the US version is really only good for MK4 information. And even then you need to choose wisely. But there are some very smart/well respected MK4 owners over there with similar knowledge to the OG's over here. When it comes the MK3 forums I would not bother.
good luck, that is going to be tough as hell to find. I would have to recommend trying to do it yourself (Impossible to do well) or to see if some company has a CMM used for automotive chassis and bring an MK4 to have it done. It would be awesome to model the car in Solidworks and Adams car...
