No voltage between any of them in any throttle position regardless of the key position (on/off). I believe it may be wiring related. The engine harness is nasty, but it came with the ECU and igniter for a good price so I was not complaining. I may try Semi's one to see if it will work along...
I am in Hampton Roads, VA. I have guys locally, but they don't have any free time. I paid Soundslikesemi to install the walbro yesterday while I watched and worked on getting everything else ready. He also helped me get my timing dead on. I may ask him for a hand, but convincing him may require...
Ok, so the code 31 went away and so did 51 when i switched ECU's and reset the efi fuse. Code 41 remains.
I do not get voltage between the following in any throttle condition with either ECU:
1) IDL to E2
2) VC to E2
3) VTA to E2
Ok, now without the pedal being touched I am getting 31 and 51. I started her up, gave it a little throttle and it is still 31 and 51.
I am now going to be checking voltages according to this:
http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?S=FI&P=52
and all the way up to page 56.
Well, I unplugged the TPS because you mentioned in the article that it could run without it. And she drives beautifully! Minus the smoke from the turbo lol but that will be rectified in a few hours with the new turbo. She still stumbles when I give it more than a little throttle, but the cut-out...
Interesting. I thought that WAS the tsrm way to do it. I will read further into that. No wonder I couldn't make it work right no matter what I did...
So you think it sounds like #3 is most likely the culprit? How exactly would I check each of those? Or are the steps in the tsrm on the diagram I...
Then i must have been reading it wrong. Let me re-read it.
As for the seal, I installed it correctly, so it may be from something else. The turbo was pissing oil everywhere. Apparently it wasn't in as good of shape as the previous owner made it out to be for $75. We shall see if it doesn't...
Well, she runs!
Soundslikesemi87 came over and did my walbro install (I'm was being lazy. Thanks man!), and I got the tranny/DS bolted up. We had to adjust the cps, but she cranked right over. Now timing is set perfectly and she sounds healthy. Minus the blown turbo of course. lol I do...
Shaking and not starting properly are signs of timing being off. Could have skipped a tooth.
Check the codes, check the timing, CHECK THE CPS, and THEN worry about worse issues.
My 2jz'ed 89 had that issue when the guy bought it from me. We found out after working on it that it was the wastegate spring. Check it to see if it is stuck. If that is not it, check your TPS. My 87 gte we got running today has a similar issue. If you blip the throttle she stumbles hard, and...
Good work man, I've been waiting to see this thing for a few months now! lol
Look for my build thread tomorrow night-ish. Doing the walbro in the morning and hopefully get her broken in for a few hours around town lol
It's priceless. Everyone's arguing... yet they're all in agreement at the same time. So wtf is the point...? :sarcasm:
PS - I'm running a HG made of dark matter jam layered with peanut butter made from hope. And it holds...
