ok, so heres my situation, I just got my new motor (7m) and tranny (auto) fully installed and ready to fire up the motor cranked really slow and took me qute awhile to figure out what was happening. Turns out that my flywheel was somhow scraping on my oil pan as you can see by the circular...
nick can I hear your reasons for this? im curious on this subject because i have heard so many people stand on different sides on this one. I locked the cable on my old tranny when I had my NA and ran that for a long time and never had any issues with it, im about 50-50 if I want to continue...

I have been using that setup on the NA motor for almost two years now and had no problems.
I am also using that setup on my new auto tranny and turbo setup along with shimmed actuators and a...

EDIT: Woops! deabionni beat me to it
After having one servere issue arise(we are working to correct it) I must strongly advise the following points.
1: It is best to do this mod...
ok...im going to try to explain this the best I can, If I can find the link ill post it for you.
As far as shimming the actuators you must remove the pan, filter ect...there are many bolts holding the valve bodies on, they are all different lengths, it is best to have the tranny out of the...
IM with AF on this one. The only reason why i removed my A/C was because of my FFIM I had to move the alternator down. But I would NEVER remove my powersteering...deff not worth it...you wont really notice the power gain and you would only save a couple pounds...it would be easier to just not...
depends what Ebay ones you get, I got some slotted ones off ebay (all 4) and they have held up for over 2 years now no problem.....granted they were not that cheap I payed over $200 for them, hell they might be name brand im really not sure, but the ones you posted look too cheap I would think...
yea, i didnt think so but one side of the auto flywheel raises up about 1mm or 2 that just might be enough to clear it...i dont remember what side i faced to the crank so it looks like im just going to have to pull the tranny off to check it out:3d_frown:
ok, heres a little more info, the flywheel is rubbing against the oil pan and both of the spacers are in place right where they should be. I dont remember the flywheel catching when i put it on when the motor was outside of the car but im not 100% sure.
Is it even possible to put the...
ok, i found my problem, somehow my flywheel (auto) is rubbing up against my oil pan.....I have no clue how this happened. I used both washers between the flywheel and torqued them down right.....anybody have any clue on how this happened or how I can fix it?
I only took off the oil pan and inspected the bearings, oil pump, etc. although I did have the timing belt off, I aligned the crank to 0, cams to 0 and the cps to 1....but now I think I know what your getting at....as in me poss. having the crank 180 degrees out right?
ok, heres my situation. I have recently swapped a 7mgte in place of my old ge, I now have everything together and ready to fire up.
My problem: I went to start it this afternoon it cranked really slow and would not fire or hesitate at all so after a few seconds of that i stopped right...
