Ok this thread has pretty a bunch of great information but I'd like to ask a few questions.
I currently have my engine out and would like to install the front subframe bushings. I already have poly bushing in the upper and lower arms for the suspension. Do I just neeed to undo the bolts for...
I need to stay out of builds like this or I swear I will start thinking about stripping the entire car. Looks gorgeous so far and can't wait to see the completed product!
Thanks man. Should be nice when it's all complete.
So I have been ordering parts again because I am getting frustrated with my fan shroud. Not having any fab equipment makes doing anything expensive and a pain in the ass.
So right now I am considering purchasing RonnieK's yellow poly subframe...
Looking forward to seeing the car get the body work finished. Did you roll the fenders or was it that way before you bought it? I doubt you need it for the wheels you have.
Interesting. Never thought that not having a shroud would cause cracking in the rad. Could I not just make my own shroud out of a piece of stainless? I assume that I would have to stand the sheet off from the backside a bit. I could replace the side mount which are now flat bar and put in some...
Progress!
Got my fan mount almost complete. However, I think I may change the bar that attaches to the fan to stainless steel and weld the bolts on to make them studs. This would make it cleaner and then I could grind the backside flat so there is no chance of hurting the rad. So far I like the...
I used a 5 lb sledge and a long pry bar. Managed to get it to come out after getting creative. That job sucked. If I was ever going to do it again I would price out the SST.
I ordered my coils a few days ago. Very excited to not have to mount the stock coil packs now that I have a FFIM. I got the seller to include the wiring harness for the connectors as well. I wonder if it is long enough that I don't need to extend mine...
Do you have poly subframe bushings? I hear they work wonders for getting rid of wheel hop. I have LIPP traction arms, new coil over and poly in all the control arms and I still get it a bit.
Progress!
This time with pretty pictures. lol
I spent about 2 hours last night thinking about gauge placement and how much I dislike how every single one of my gauges is different. Since I am not rich I have decided to use the ones I have instead of replacing them to make them match.
This is...
Progress!
Got sick of homework so went into the garage and picked a project. My new engine setup came with a modified stock throttle linkage that did not have the cruise control provisions. So 20 minutes with a grinder and I have a replacement with all things necessary for cruise control. All I...
Ya, I try to keep this thread up to date. I like to think there are some people following it and don't want to disappoint. lol
I am just waiting for a few of the bigger items to show up and then I will have some cooler pictures to look at.
I don't like the look of those tie strap mounting kits. I looked on Jegs and found a few that hold the oil cooler by the pipes on the end with rubber isolators and bolt directly to the body. This method seems more robust. Either way show us pics of what you come up with. I'll be doing this in a...
Spent some money yesterday. Bought 100 feet of black header wrap and a set of coils and wires from an IS300. I figure if I'm going to have a FFIM I might as well make it look clean as hell while doing it. Now I don't have to ghetto mount the stock coil pack or run super long wires. I have also...
Yup, brakes are done but could use track rotors and pads to make full use of them.
Looks like this is something I will need to look into. Might not do it right now since bills are adding up fast and I'm but a poor student. I will look into it more when spring rolls around and I have a source...
