I would get the compression checked out if you are going to have one thing looked at. It will help you avoid a lot of possible problems that you could be getting yourself into.
The non turbo supras still should have a pretty good kick and some get up and go.
In the engine bay in the diagnostic box use a copper wire or something and connect port B+ to FP. This will allow you to run the pump briefly without starting your car to see if you pump is working correctly. If it makes the same whining sound you were talking about you know what it is.
LOL it might be me that you are are talking about......its my 87. As far as Supra's i have seen a few good ones on craigslist in the area for sale you should check it out.
He is right about it being easy and common sense. I was going to shit my pants when i did the first one. I pictured it going off and a screw driver going thru my head. They in theory have to have a power and a ground to go off. Battery gone and is there a fuse for it? I have done it twice and...
Yeah if it only does it sometimes and you already did the head gasket i would say that there might be a problem with your radiator or something blocking coolant from flowing properly. I would take it off and flush it and possibly have it tested. Or see if something is physically blocking the...
When I worked at Discount tire if a car showed up with them on the car, we shipped it off because as a company they don't want to deal with the extra liabilities. You CAN do a lot of things but it always isn't a good idea.
Start with the battery.......most auto places will test for free to see if its still good they can check your alternator as well. With those out of the way i would go to the starter.
But there is also a good chance it could be the starter but it never hurts to have the other parts checked out...
I think its torqued at something like 195ft/lbs. I had someone in the car holding the brakes with the car in gear and one hell of a breaker bar. You should be able to get it loose with a good impact wrench.
I'm going with a 10mm on the bolts and yes its fun. Its a hell of a lot easier when you take out your entire interior to replace it with shadow grey.:bigthumb:
But really its not bad just be careful not to break all of the clips when taking the old trim off.
Do you have both the factory and the Blitz bov installed currently on the car? Or do you just have the blitz bov on its own hooked up. If you have both the Blitz bov might be adjusted to release pressure at a higher level than stock. If you weren't building boost at all your car would be...
I once made intercooler piping out of toilet paper rolls and the rolls from wrapping paper coated in duct tape.:naughty:
And as Chris Rock said " Just because you CAN do it, doesn't mean its a good idea"
Spend a little more money on eBay or go to a muffler shop and get mandrel bent steal.
Calling the dealer with the VIN will work if the car is newer and still in their data base. I did it with my corolla and had a key made they didnt even as for registration or anything........afterall who would steal a 91 corolla?
Pull a few of your plug wires and check for oil......the valve covers love to leak or depending on how much smoke the valve stem seals like to go after a while and its most noticeable when its cold.
