The transmission popping out of gear is usually indicative of the synchros going out. A better transmission fluid might help. I highly recommend some Redline MTL.
You can try using smoke to find leaks, but really the easiest way to find a leak is to just replace all the intake manifold and plenum gaskets. They aren't particularly expensive and it's good preventive maintenance.
Sounds like air in your clutch lines. First try bleeding the clutch system of air, making sure the master reservoir is full at all times. If that doesn't work and you still don't see any leaks, it's probably the master cylinder.
Ahh. I had heard of people doing that. Problem with that is you can't tune by throttle and pressure, you chose one and the other is your wideband. The problem with the ZT and any wideband that doesn't output linear is if you use a conversion factor it will be off a little towards the most...
The Konis I saw had to be removed from the car to adjust them. The Tokico Illumina II's are cockpit adjustable with the stock TEMS. That being said, TEMS is a pretty weak system IMO. It's cool for the gadget factor but the ride quality doesn't change that much. Even the Tokico's don't have...
You can't properly clean the head and block surfaces without removing at least most of the turbo nuts. Removing the manifold with the turbo on is just as hard as removing the turbo itself IMO.
:)
I did a medium port/polish job on my exhaust manifold. In addition to doing a true "port" job where I matched the gaskets to the head and turbo, I also removed a decent amount of material where all the cylinders come together and like you say the lumps that are in there. However I found...
Electric fan will work just fine on a N/A, I ran a Permacool for 4 years on mine. For turbo cars with large intercoolers in hot weather with the AC on you probably will experience overheating. I enjoyed my Permacool, cost ~$100.
Currently I'm using only the front 6.5"s and some 5.25" in the rear. Unless you custom make a bracket or buy some 91-92 brackets the biggest you can fit is a 4". I highly recommend converting over to a 6.5" up front.
Sound is very subjective. Some people like a certain type of sound...
It's been a long time since I saw the 87-88 intercooler, but as I recall the end tank metal pipe actually extends much further then the 89+. The routing is near identical but the pipes are different lengths.
The Tein SS do not come with pillowball mounts, and the height adjustment and spring preload cannot be adjusted separately. The SS are made to be a cheap good basic coilover, while the Flex are meant to be for a daily driver/mild track use.
If you like cornering, you will love coilovers...
Ball joint fork and a hammer. You can rent them at most auto parts stores. They usually have a few sizes, the medium/large one is the one you need. If you go to the store with your new ball joint, get the fork that fits over the threaded stud but not so big that it doesn't make contact with...
