It does appear that most of the 60 trim's and larger fail much quicker then the smaller sizes. I've got about 40k miles on my 57 trim, no excessive play or oil burning.
For the record, a CT-26 upgrade consists of boring out the intake side of the turbo and putting a larger wheel in there...
Check engine light doesn't always come on when there is a code. 52 will throw a light, but it takes the ECU a while to figure out it doesn't like the knock sensor wiring. 42 and 51 will never turn the light on. The 92 TSRM actually outlines which codes will turn the light on.
If you got a code 51 the TPS probably just needs adjustment. If you got code 41 the TPS is probably bad. Most of the time the TPS just needs a quick adjustment.
Not very many 87 owners around here, but the one guy local that tried to remove the HAC had nothing but problems. IIRC he had stuttering problems. I don't really see the need to remove since it doesn't weigh anything and it won't reduce engine bay clutter.
Correct, fuel cut will shift around depending on turbo. That's because FCO isn't based on boost, it's based on airflow, temperature, RPM and throttle position.
It's all a matter of opinion. I personally like to remove the head solo, then the block and tranny together. The head has to come off eventually, and I like the extra clearance gained by removing the head first. The block, head and tranny all together can be a beast to get out. Probably not...
It's one of those things you'd never expect to be available much less cheap. Like the door lock bezels, oil dipstick. Someone should make a thread about this :)
It's not a good idea to tune with someone elses settings. No two cars are alike or will handle mods the same. You're playing with fire without an EGT or wideband gauge.
