Got Boost - The bends and muffler were bought off ebay. But I got the straight pipe at a local shop in Clear Lake, it is a mineike or however you spell it! I just went in and asked if I could buy some pipe, paid $20 for a 10ft length.
Jay - Looks like you already got your questions answered, but my exhaust is all aluminized steel, and it welds fine. Keep in mind all you need is one of these bends + a straight length of pipe. It would probably not be so cost effective if you use stainless and have someone weld it. I posted...
isnms - look's like a good price from that place too.
da89soup - the 2JZ has been collecting dust unfortunately:3d_frown: I was all set to drop it in when I had to put life on hold for a bit to make a career type decision. I had the chance to take a good job in Dubai, but I recently got a...
To answer the other questions...
For hangers, I went to Lowes or Home Depot, can't remember which and got a 4 ft x 1/4in piece of steel stock. Cost about $5. Just bend/hammer it to shape.
Flanges - I had some laying around so I used those. Bigaaron sells nice looking 3in flanges @...
OK, more info I remembered.
The Mandrel bend was bought from ebay. The seller is performance-curve. I just put 'mandrel' in the ebay search and it comes up. They also sell stainless, mine is steel, the cost right now is $26.99 + $15 shipping. I just checked.
The Magnaflow was picked up...
Reaper - I have to agree, most off the shelf cat backs are a little overpriced.
Jay - I will look back through my stuff and see if I can find the name of the ebay seller I got the bends from.
I'm glad my video works!
Well, I haven't posted in forever but I finally have a vid with sound of my exhaust.
Some of you guys might remember my 89 NA-T I did last year, in that thread I showed how I made a 3in catback mandrel bent exhaust for $130. I thought now that I can share the sound it might be useful to...
Yeah, Dubai is OK. I am kinda undecided on whether I want to live there or not..but the $$$ on offer is very good. I will decide in December. I've never been to Qatar but the whole middle east area is a pretty different lifestyle than Houston, that's for sure!!
Shawn, I knew I would doom myself when I put a time frame on this project:biglaugh:
Work has owned me lately, when I started this I had lots of spare time but I have been out of the country a lot lately. I am off to Dubai again next month so I won't have any time until the end of...
Ken,
I have the same one, the only problem I had is that the flange surface was not flat. I had to take mine to a shop and have them mill it flat as it wouldn't seal with the turbo.
I think that is just luck of the draw, as I have heard of some being fine out of the box.
I did this to clear the top of my engine.
I ditched cruise, and have a 5 speed so no auto cable.
I took the stock cable holder and cut the cruise cable slot off it, then bolted it to the side of the intake mani facing down. I needed a different actuator than stock, as the cable now came from...
Slow progress lately...
Ironic thing is while I am trying to replace my 7M my daily driver gets rod knock:aigo: Haha, I have had a 7M for 7 years and never got the knock...I guess my solara was too close to the supra in the garage and caught the knock instead!!!
Here's why the supra has not...
I am a Captain for a large regional airline.
Pay is good, but the main perks are lots of time off, and I don't feel like I have a job, more like a hobby with a good paycheck!!!
OK, back from vacation.
Had one day before going back to work so I started to mock up my fuel lines and AFPR. Trying to decide where I want to mount it.
Fuel is gonna be 550's fed by -6 line, with my already installed walbro. Using an Aeromotive 13109 AFPR.
I tapped the stock FPR...
Shawn,
I had some spare time so I got right into it!! Things will slow down over the next 2 weeks as I am on vacation. When I am back it will be on...I want to finish up before the end of november.
Start a thread man, I wanna see what your doing.
No supra haters in my house!!
Probably helps that the supra has been here longer than the wife:biglaugh: She knew what she was getting into early on so now she has no choice:evil2:
Whenever I buy something for my car, she decides it's only fair if she gets something she wants too, seeing...
Yep, I do the same poodles, when I don't want to lose the charge.
This time I don't care as no matter what, I have to pull the lines from my current compressor and fit them to the top of this hybrid JZ compressor. So a vacuum and recharge will be required.
As for recharging, it will be...
Thanks for the comments guys...
Today's job was AC. Living in Houston makes AC mandatory, it's too damn hot:aigo:
I took the top housing off my spare 7M compressor, it bolts right onto the 2JZ compressor. The 2JZ compressor has a sensor on the bottom, with an associated second plug. I...
rs4 - I plan on pulling my 7M in 2 weeks or so, then I will have the harness off that and wire it onto the 2J.
I plan on documenting it all, with lots of pics. Hopefully it will be useful for others in the future.
The TPS will work fine, the turbo/NA use the same plug. You may have trouble getting the plug from your turbo harness to reach though, as if I remember the TPS faces the other way on an NA intake. I did this and it did reach, it was just tight.
You will need turbo plug wires. The end that...
