Are you getting old and crabby too?? ;) :: IJ. ::

    Really weird Starting Problem

No one has discovered the actual problem because there is not just one problem. There are combinations of problems that can create the same result - starter won't crank. So that's why I posted the solution to my car's issue, it might help someone else. I like troubleshooting, so the by-pass was...

    Really weird Starting Problem

Pulling the alarm module does not cause any other problems as long as you jumper or solder the wire that runs to the starter. There's a write-up on it in tech. I chose the jumper solution so I didn't have to cut on the harness. Update on my car: since removing the alarm module and cranking...

    Really weird Starting Problem

You by-pass the factory alarm by doing the starter solenoid mod. Unless you pull the alarm itself, you will never know if it was the true culprit. Try pulling the alarm, putting a jumper wire in its place, and see if you still need the starter solenoid mod. With a jumper wire you can put the...

    white package

White w/gray interior was not an option period. Gray seats come in both cloth and leather.

    Really weird Starting Problem

I would not be so quick to agree. I've had four supras in the past 5 years and never had to resort to the by-pass trick. Many other supra owners get brand new harnesses and still have to do the by-pass trick. Found out the issue with my car was multiple: crabby factory alarm followed by the...

    white package

My interior has been flipped to gray: Its not too bland, and it doesn't get as hot as the darker colors. I used to have a 91 white package with blue interior.

Do you believe the Supra (MK3) will become a collectors car over time?

The Supras are not as common as the Z cars. I would expect the z car event to be much larger. And I would expect any corvette/camaro/mustang event to be bigger than the z/supra events combined. Begs the question of why the high dollar showboats don't go to the Z events..The Supra crowd obviously...

Do you believe the Supra (MK3) will become a collectors car over time?

240z? The Datsun 240z ('70-78')? that was a different generation car. IMHO, the 300z is a better comparison since they are of the same "generation". As my appraiser put it, between the supra and the 300z, there is "no comparison". As a car collector himself, the Supra is a much more desirable...

    Really weird Starting Problem

A lot of the local auto parts stores (advanced/auto zone) will do an alternator test for free. Check with Setheroo to see what his car is doing. He was/is having the same problem. He hasn't posted his solution yet over on GE-Tech Discussion. When your car fails to crank, do ALL the lights go...

    Got my car appraised today..

I quote directly from the appraisel itself: --- Your W-Sport removable roof is a highly desirable option on this Turbo version and certainly increases its attractiveness. Additionally, your attention to detail, cleanliness and service will continue to serve you and the vehicle well. No...

    Factory Alarm

When you installed the new alarm, were you able to use the factory wiring already in place at the door locks/hatch/hood? How did the hatch release work since its not powered out of the factory?

    No crank, no start...

Update on my car - At my boss' needling, I attempted to jumpstart the sup off of my altima. It started. I drove it around the block a couple of times and returned to the garage. Turned it off, attempted to start it, only got clicks. However, I did not run the car very long at all, maybe 10...

    Headliner

I think a competent installer could do a vinyl headliner in a sunroof car and make it look great. My roof is not flat at all and the vinyl is not wrinkled or folded. My car used to have a red interior (now gray). So my targa top had red plastic trim on each side above the doors. The installer...

    Headliner

Its glued. My suggestion is replace it with vinyl. I had mine done with a vinyl that had a leather-like texture and color that matched the gray in the car. It looks fantastic and is easy to clean. I didn't do the vinyl myself, but it cost less than $100 and it couldn't have turned out nicer.

    No crank, no start...

I can rule out the factory alarm. Not a waste of time because it was well worth getting rid of it. When the factory alarm was out, the loud clicking sound was gone, dead silence when I turned the key. HOWEVER, I never lost the dash/interior lights. I went the jumper route with the factory alarm...

    No crank, no start...

Well, I've learned some more today here at my garage. I have lights, I turn the key to acc, everything good. I turn the key to start, there is a loud click and nothing. HOWEVER, the door open light is still lit on the dash. I still have power. I do it a second time, same thing happens, but this...

Someone please tell me how a bad ignition switch kills power to the entire car.
