Might buy 87 Na -> Turbo.. but rusty

Not true - I paid the same price for the NA as I do the turbo. Its a sports car period. As for the original question, two words - ROAD TRIP! Head south and you will find more cars and less rust. I paid $500 for a non-running NA with rust only on the wheel wells, no dents, and that was before...

Door moldings - proper installation method?

Where did you get the clips and inserts? Toyota? Or did you rifle through the stuff at Autozone? Its a 90. No rust or metal. The lack of clips caused the waviness.

Door moldings - proper installation method?

When my car was painted last summer, I stripped it down, and the body shop did not put the door moldings back on correctly. They didn't fix the broken clips, and they used all kinds of 2-sided tape that resulted in wavy door moldings. Since I have to get a new PS door, the moldings will be done...

    Auto Insurance

I've had Geico, Progressive and State Farm. Both Geico and Progressive started out real cheap, then they raised the rates so much that in a matter of 2 years I had to shop around again. State Farm raised their rates just marginally, I kept them for 5 years. When I bought my house, I put the...

Need help with crabby brake caliper..

Well, I enlisted some help and we got it apart. Sorry Poodles, it involved a hammer. We got the cap off the slide, and inside was just bone dry. I soaked it in PB. Then we used a punch and a small hammer and we were able to tap it out. No damage to the original parts! The reman'd caliper had a...

Hatch struts support lifts = $30 ea.

I got all mine off e-bay. I don't expect them to last as long as OEM, so I went cheap. The hood struts are awesome - very strong, lifts the hood with great ease. The hatch, not so good. It takes a bit of muscle to open the hatch. I've had them all one year. Have not noticed any wear yet.

Need help with crabby brake caliper..

Well, I've never replaced brake calipers on any of my previous vehicles. Looked like fun so I thought I would give it a try :sarcasm: I got the first caliper off the car with minimal fuss. Here's what I have removed: So I have the old caliper still attached to the bracket (torque plate...

    Towing a MKIII

Use a tow vehicle with a longer wheelbase. That way the tail won't wag the dog.

    stock alarm disableing ignition?????

Remove the alarm: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1515#post1515 I chose to make a jumper wire instead of cutting wires, but either way, its about a 30-45 min job. However, that may not be the issue. Your starter may be stuck. Try hitting it with a small hammer or an...

Wrecked my Sup tonight - my bad :(

10k :) Will call the insurance company on Monday. Not sure what they'll think of me getting used parts from Mike, but really, what choice do I have? I'll see if Dream Machines, who did the original paint, can do the work. I have some other touch-ups I want done anyways. I just don't want it...

On the topic of seat belts and safety

Champion got mine from Japan. How do I know? Took two weeks for Champion to receive them and all the instructions were in Japanese. They are still available. Wish the rear ones were. Easy to test. Sit in passenger seat while someone else is driving. Test the tension on the belt when the...

Wrecked my Sup tonight - my bad :(

Upon closer inspection it looks like the upper edge of the rocker panel has been caved in. It meets the mudflap flush, but in the rear, there's a gap of about 1/4". Any thoughts on repairing a rocker panel?

Wrecked my Sup tonight - my bad :(

The accident didn't cause a sex change ;) Really shouldn't be hard to get my hands on the parts. Waiting on the body shop is another story..

Wrecked my Sup tonight - my bad :(

Yeah, it sucks and it was my fault. I was approaching an X shaped intersection on an overpass over a 4-lane highway. You know, the kind where one set of lights controls traffic for the ramps on both sides of the overpass? Well, I was undecided about stopping for the light, so I did. And I ended...

Killed 69 chevelle on pinks! (7m)

I noticed he had the stock steering wheel and the stock climate control. Didn't recognize much else on the car.. Anyone planning to do Pinks in the new format?

    Steering rack knock

You might want to replace it with a unit that has progressive steering. Check shipping. Those suckers are surprisingly heavy.

Killed 69 chevelle on pinks! (7m)

So I finally caught up with the Pinks episode with Shawn's Supra (I got cable late in life!). I have been watching the newer episodes, and they are so different than this one. Apparently they dumped the idea of signing over the title in order to draw more entries. The other night I watched a new...

Supra or Miata? (read before you vote)

Sounds like the Miata is your better choice for racing..However, for a DD, I would pick the supra over the miata. I would much rather be in a supra tank vs. the miata in an accident. My cousin in Minnesota got caught under a tractor trailer while driving her brother's convertible Miata on the...
