if you swap the whole unit (ie including the casing) then it'll drop right in.... if you change the internals, you may need to get the half shafts to suit...
first one went during a motorkhana on the local drag strip, launched off the line and it just locked up.... split some of the internal gears and locked itself solid...
second one i dropped the clutch at about 50kmh and it went bang... was able to drive it for a little bit, but didn't make it...
http://www.enginemanagement.com.au -> online agent for the Stinger (or something like that)
They have the software available for download there, and a support forum that may be able to help out as well... (Mind you, there's a lot of knowledge right here on SM too)
Iridiums seem to work just as well as the coppers in 1JZ's, some people swear by the coppers and some by iridiums, but there doesn't actually seem to be any real difference...
You should replace copper plugs a lot more often than you do iridiums, but the price difference more than makes up...
agreed... i've got a factory jza70 (came with the 4.11 torsen) and have blown 2 of the torsens now, finally have a 3.73 mechanical LSD (claimed to be a TRD 2 way, but havent pulled it apart to check) and I've been very happy with it...
Quarter mile time is slightly better with it, and it also...
After we took those shots we went for a drive to the old Belmont Kiln's (near Ascot) to see whether we could get in there and take a few shots. Ended up taking a few snaps of a mates MX-5 out the front.
After Belmont we headed to Alfred's Kitchen for a late dinner and then ducked around the...
Thanks Theresa... :)
We went out last night and took a few more photos...
The following shots were all taken from the South Perth foreshore.
View of Perth city from beside the Narrows Bridge.
View of the "Old" Swan Brewery from near the Narrows Bridge.
Shot from between the 2 Narrows...
What do NGK call their plugs over there? do they sell a BKR6E-11 or a BKR6E-0030 (or whatever 1.1mm is in inches) :)
TSRM will talk in mm because the car was designed in a metric country, I talk metric on some stuff and imperial on others cos we have both here (mostly pushrods and iron heads...
oh, and those ngk's should come gapped to 0.8mm, so you should only need to check them / make minor changes... unless your local supplier only has the -11 plugs in stock, then you will need to gap them down to ~0.8mm (some people recomend 0.7)
ngk bkr6e's and bkr7e's work really well on the 1jz's, 6's for a stock setup and 7's when you wind the boost up....
there's also a denso iridium that works pretty well (and there's ngk iridiums that are supposed to be just as good) but they cost about 4 - 5 times as much and the only real...
you could always hook it up to the handbrake light.... then when you stage, you lift the handle and drop it as you launch...
your clutch pedal will have provision for a switch too, as the JZA70's came out with cruise control as an option, so the fitting will be there even if the switch isn't...
we run our monthly meetings on the last Sunday of every month and the committee members of SupraWA take it in turns to pick a location... the cruises are in addition to the meets...
i put a set of 2jz twins on my 1jz, and i can honestly say:
get a big single.
for the effort involved, the cost of a set of 2nd hand turbos, the fabrication involved, you may as well direct that at a single turbo conversion...
to bolt the 2jz turbos to the 1jz half manifolds, you just drill out the existing holes a little, as the bolt spacing is slightly different.... you can use the stock 2jz y pipe if you put about a 5mm spacer between the 2 turbos as they sit a little further apart on the 2jz compared to the 1jz...
When I got my license (Western Australia) you had to be 16 years and 9 months to get your learners and you could not sit your practical test until your 17th birthday.
When you passed the practical you had to wear P plates for 12 months and could not exceed 90kmh or 0.00 BAC.
They've now...
there should be 2 map sensors connected to the intake.. in a factory install, there's a vacuum line from the back of the manifold to a map sensor on the firewall that is connected to the ECU, while a line from the side (fender side, behind the diagnostic plug) of the manifold runs to a map...
These are some pics of mine from some past SupraWA (Supra club of Western Australia) monthly meets and some of our cruises.
this is from our first official meet, back in April 2006. clicking the following link should take you to a much larger version :)...
Cool pics..... My brother's living in San Jose now, so I'll have to visit him when I have some spare cash and take a trip to check out some Cali supras.... :)
This is my 91 Burgandy Pearl (3H8) JZA70 Limited....
and here's a night shot....
I'm pretty keen to respray it... I gave the bonnet, roof and part of the bumper a quick spray a while back, and the fresh paint comes up sooooooo good, I just have to paint it all now :)
It'll take a...
